I'd propose conducting an in-depth, "undercover" investigation to get to the bottom of this sordid practice. And I'd be happy to conduct it myself in a thoroughly professional manner.

Remember quiet a few of these bangkok uni girls also work in Bangkoks finest adult establishments..... maybe it was also an offer made on her part to excel herself?

Sorry for picking nits here.... but as a longtime journalist, it's in the blood...

From reading The Nation and Thailand Outlook accounts, I see only language about he demanded.... but never any direct acknowledgement that he actually received...

Whereas, the BKK Post article uses language that suggests the act was consummated....

Maybe what is required here... then...is a blow by blow account of what really occurred...

while not exactly a blow by blow report... it seems that with the plaintiff in the case, it was only demanded... whereas for TWO other students, the deed was done... and the ajarn got what he came for...AND so did the students:

Good grades for oral sex

Police yesterday arrested a Thammasat University lecturer for giving good grades to two female students in return for oral sex.

Engineering school lecturer Kamthorn Cherdchookiat admitted that two unnamed students had oral sex with him. He has been charged with sexual molestation.

Police arrested him at his Rangsit campus office after he made a similar offer to a third student, who refused. She later consulted with her parents after the lecturer called her to discuss the deal.

Apparently ajarn is considerably more shy outside of his professor's office...

University draws up new harassment rules

Thammasat University yesterday fired a lecturer accused of sexual harassment by a female student and announced measures to prevent similar offences in the future.

Thammasat Rector Prof Surapol Nitikraipot says the university fired Kamtorn Cherdchukiat, 33, from the Faculty of Engineering. It's appointed a committee to investigate allegations of sexual harassment.

Surapol and faculty Dean, Assoc Prof Uruya Wassakul, yesterday apologised to the public in wake of the scandal. "We are sorry for what has happened and offer apologies to the public," the Rector said.

Kamtorn was arrested on Wednesday after a female student complained to police Children, Juveniles and Women Division. She accused him of having offered a better grade in exchange for oral sex.

Investigators say another female student has contacted them with similar allegations against Kamtorn.

Thammasat Deputy Rector Siriporn Khampalikhit said following an urgent meeting of top university officials yesterday, new regulations have been issued to prevent similar cases in the future.

These include removing curtains and blinds from lecturers' offices and banning one-to-one private consultations between lecturers and students.

This guy must have been quite a non-influential person--otherwise, we'd be hearing about how it wasn't true, he didn't do it and it was her fault.

Actually she should have taken pictures with her mobile phone and posted them on the internet with something like: Smallest member of the faculty!

A pretty good point. For once there seems to have been some accountability and responsibility from the establishment involved, so good on them, but one still wonders the point that Scott has made.

Kamtorn Cherdchukiat looks a little down in the mouth.

Busy shielding his head. Should have done that before shouldn't he.

In all seriousness...I say... good for the lady who "blew" the whistle on this guy....

Besides, as anyone who has ever worked at a university would know, the engineering department is not the best place for those kinds of extra-curricular activities.... The guy should have been teaching in the physical therapy program.....

Female student enters Ajarn's office, and hitches up short, micro-length pencil skirt a few inches:

Female student: "Khun Ajarn kah, I'd do ANYTHING to get a grade A in this Exam."

Ajarn: "Anything? Anything AT ALL?"

Female student: "Yes, Khun Ajarn kah, absolutely anything!"

Ajarn: "Hmmmm. That's a beautiful thought. So, you'd really do ANYTHING?"

Female student (unbuttoning top button of tight fitting white blouse): Yesssss, Khun Ajarn kah!"

Ajarn: "So, how about ------ studying, completing your assignments and working hard?"

He's only human!

He should take the 'Clinton' on this one. It worked for Slippery Willy.

I most certainly hope that the Ministry of Silly Walks and/or the TCT IMMEDIATELY draft a knee-jerk policy to get all Thai teachers to go to an inconveniently located Police Station, like, say, Narathiwat, and self-certify that they have never and will never, accept incentives to enhance students' grades. They would then have to get the self-certificate certified as being true at their embassy in Bangkok. Or Singapore. Which ever is furthest away.

That's my idea anyway.

Furthermore, don't tell the Police or the Embassy staff.

And make sure it's all got to be done by, ohhhhh, say, next week.

Or they will have their teachers licenses invalidated.

Seems reasonable to me, based on the last couple of years history.

John Mark Karr anyone?

I mentioned this case to my wife today and she mentioned a friend of hers, a psychologist who teaches at a university who gets these sexual offers ALL THE TIME in exchange for grades. As someone mentioned a day or two ago, this place is morally bankrupt, oh, no, wait, you can always make merit afterwards. :o

To be morally bankrupt you need to have morals in the first place.

Yesterday Anchorman Nattakorn wrote how top rated TV shows promote rape an acceptable act and how girls eventually come around and grow to love the rapist/slave owner.

A few days ago another article describied widespread cheating in temple exams for monks, how their teachers provide them with photocopied answers so that everyone gets good grades.

These are the sources this country gets their moral guidance from.

Police wants details from girls

An investigation into the alleged sexual molestation of two female students by a Thammasat University lecturer will require more information from the students, police say.

Case investigator Pol Lieutenant Kitti Cherdkiat said the investigation had not included fellatio. He said no other victims had met the police nor lodged any new complaints regarding the matter.

The probe was prompted by a complaint lodged by parents of a third female student after she turned down his request for her to perform oral sex on him in exchange for good grades.

A team of Thammasat lecturers yesterday opened their own investigation.

Panel Chairman Thaweekiat Meenakanit declined to say what had been discussed in the two-hour meeting. The panel will call alleged molester Kamthon Cherdchookiat, all three victims and police officers from Klong Luang in Pathum Thani to its next, undated meeting.
