Adopted Thai Child And Uk Citizenship

I have been married to a Thai woman for 12 years and we have an adopted

child aged 6 since we adopted since birth.

I assumed that she would enjoy the same benefits as our natural born

children with regard to UK Citizenship / Passport etc but I learn that this

is not the case.

I am told that since Thailand is not part of a group of 'approved countries'

then the adoption is not recognised by the UK.

My question is how can I obtain UK citizenship for our daughter ? I do not

intend to return to the UK in the immediate future but I would like to find

the best route for our daughter to gain a UK passport if only to avoid the

necessity for Visas for her whenever our family travels.

Can I apply to have the adoption recognised in the UK and if so can someone

suggest an agency for this ??

Are there any practical steps which can be suggested ??

did you go through the relevant social services checks from the UK prior to the adoption? If not then there is the problem, for your child to be legally recognise as your child in the UK you will omst likely need to speak with the adoption services in the UK to start the process to legalise the adoption in the UK.
