April 28, 200818 yr My next door neighbour said that she could stand as guarantor for me if I wanted to continue to stay in Thailand. I already have a retirement visa. Does anyone know anything about how this works and what type of visa you get?
April 28, 200818 yr Retirement extensions of stay requires 800k in your name in bank account three months or 65k pension/income per Embassy letter or a combination. Have never heard of any provision for someone else to act as guarantor. Below are the requirements: (1) Foreigner shall obtains VISA fortemporary stay and, (2) Shall not be younger than 50 years old and, (3) Having evidence showing the monthly income not less than 65,000 Baht or, (4) Having the records of saving money in the latest 3 months of account book of any Bank in Thailand not less than 800,000 Baht or, (5) Having annual income combined with the saving money in the Bank not less than 800,000 Baht from on the date submitting the application.

Thanks for that. She tells me that she has done it before for the previous inhabitant of my house! Maybe it got confused in the translation.
April 28, 200818 yr Author Ah, apparently she used to say that he lived in her house and she would act as guarantor for him. She did this for 4 years! Still don't understand what sort of visa he would get with that.

I could imagine that the lady meant guarantor in terms of local matters whatsoever but never in context regarding dealings with immigration and subsequent visa, e.g. a local police clearance to obtain a residence paper from immigration.
