where is the best place to get a cheap second hand car in Phuket? How much should i be prepared to pay minimum to get soemthing that is reliable? thanks

How good are you mechanically ?? How much are you prepared to accept inconvenience / unreliability for saving money.

At an absolute min you can get an old runabout for 80 maybe even 60 for a 20 year old dog.

Somewhere at the 120 ish range you can get an old but not knackered car.. Its not going to win any beauty prizes but they do exist.

At 150 up you can get something pretty ok.. Reliable.. Runs.. AC works.. Helps if you buy a Euro car (not BMW of course) as Thais dont like them. Audi's VW's etc.. Parts will be expensive but labour is cheap. At 200 your options really open up.. Audi 100 or older A6 in clean if used condition.

I know of a very clean Nissan NV (wingroad) going for 180k.. Thats not cheap in NV terms but its fully maintained and as far as I know faultless. Stereo AC etc. Very low total cost of ownership on those (possibly the lowest !!) Cheap parts, everybody can service, low gas use, etc.
