May 2, 200818 yr Hi, I have a question on work permits. When a school applies for a teachers work permit for you, do they need the originals (Degree, Transcript, TEFL etc) or will copies do? I ask this as I have given over my originals, which I don't like doing and from what I know copies should do (once you have shown the originals to the school who then make copies). However I am not sure? I was told that I would get them back once the work permit is issued which may take some weeks. Surely, once they have applied and shown the originals to the relevant government department, which is done at the beginning of the process I should get them back. Why do I have to wait until the actual work permit is issued? I'm sure its Ok, but I just have uneasy feeling about this.... Thanks
May 2, 200818 yr I have given over my originals, which I don't like doing dude are you insane? you never give anyone your originals first off............. always make sure you keep them with you, and make copies as necessary..... I made a mistake with one school and gave my passport to them, never got it back till after a week or 2 of hel_l >< they dont give 2 satangs about your stuff, dont listen to them.
May 3, 200818 yr There are occasions when originals have to be handed out to somebody processing something on your behalf. We do this frequently (WP and company related matters). First make sure you have copies of everything you hand out. Make a receipt with carbon copy stating clearly all the originals you hand out with relevant numbers and dates of issue of each document etc. and state the name of the person/institution receiving the originals. Have the recipient sign and date the receipt and state on it an approximate date of when the docs will be returned to you. Give the copy of the receipt to the person and keep the original safe. If anything gets lost or stolen you have legal recourse. We never had any problems. opalhort
