I'm soon in the market for a new TV .. my landlord supplied 25" is seeming a bit small. LCD *seems* to be about sets that are 40" and larger. My old Panasonic CRT 29" (sold with the house) was a pretty fair set.

What are some of the pros and cons of CRT vs LCD of up to 32" .. forget hi def

Seems like all the talk is about LCD or Plasma. Is there a good reason, or ..?

Good luck finding 32 inch CRT here.. And god knows how much that would weigh !!

Fact is CRTs can be a better image, better colors, better blacks, better across the board. However we dont tend to get any high end CRT sets here, so your just left looking at the non widescreen 4:3 sets, often no hidef inputs, no digital inputs, no HDCP copy protecton, etc etc etc..

So the CRT models sold tend to the low end and the LCD's tend to the higher end market despite the LCD actually not being a superior tech for smaller sizes.

I've just bought the new LG 32LC7R (26,000 baht) from Homepro in Hua Hin and and I'm well impressed with the clarity and definition.

Previous to that I had a Sony 29" CRT and it leaves it for dead.

pm me if you want to see the quality before buying - you're welcome to see at my home

Okay, 29 or 30?

I watch mostly satellite TV. At this point I don't even have a DVD player .. so it seems to me that a standard screen might actually have a more watchable image than a wide screen.

I don't know what the 29/30" CRT models are selling for right now, but Bt 25,000 or thereabouts for the smallest LCD seems to be quite a high price to pay for some weight/space gain.

We bought a 34" Panasonic CRT at HomePro a couple years ago, and I don't think it cost more than about 25k THB even back then. Have they taken them off the market? It is standard def but does all the 100 Hz and progressive display modes and has component inputs. At the time, I chose it because it just stood out on the shelf (in the side-by-side sales display) as the best picture to me, both from far away and up close.

You are right though... lifting it is really a two-man job, and those two guys have to have their hearts in it too. :o

One thing to keep in mind. With companies starting to discontinue manufacturing CRT TV's, over time it is going to get harder and harder to get parts for CRT's.
