On the news tonight I hear that Mrs Clinton if elected will created a new wealth tax for petrol

The more the petrol companies make the higher the tax bracket they will have to pay

This tax will be used to help pay for every litre of petrol sold

Isn't it typical to take a female to thing logical

So my question is

How long will it take before this policy is implemented by the Thai government

Is this a silver lining for us farang caught up in spiralling costs in Thailand ?

my computer crashed before I had chance to write in the last 3 lines

someone was quick to jump on my subject before my computer re booted

Sorry if the subject looked off Thai interest

But petrol worries even people in Thailand

No. Nothing to do with Thailand.

She is proposing a temporary gas tax holiday for this summer, for Americans only to be funded by the oil companies, in the interests of winning the nomination, and this proposal has almost no chance of becoming reality. It is for political purposes only and I say this as a Clinton supporter.

No. Nothing to do with Thailand.

In a way... it is related to Thailand.

:o

As an example of what won't happen in Thailand. Never.

Here, it's the contrary : the government give us... a subsidy on diesel.

And we could also say that there is an indirect or hidden subsidy for regular gasoline... when the government just uses PTT as its armed arm (to postpone hikes of prices). The government is the main shareholder of PTT... that helps. :D

My point : european countries talked about extra tax on oil companies... now the US could do it... But it's just impossible here.

Cheap gasoline is the motor of thai economy. And any increase of prices has a stronger impact on people's purchasing power... compare to western countries.

This is political grand standing...For this to become law, it would have to pass both houses of Congress and get Presidential signature...No law has even been proposed...Nothing will be done...It would be past the November election before anything could happen...All just campaign BS..
