2 THINGS

1 :o

2 BEETLES, whilst bieng a nice motor (never had one in thailand) have 2 doors, not really practical, limited front boot space struggle to get a pram in, and i would have thought No air con, sounds like a nightmare, stuck behind a wagon going 25 mph up hill, not enough power to maybe overtake, red hot in car, baby screaming, after emptying its milk down your shirt, your lass on phone blaming you to her mother for buying bad falang car in first place and your emegency tin of chang has exploded with heat!!

now im not a lover of BMW's at all, buy the bm!!! :D

Hey,

Great point........ Think i could make do with some of it but the whole 'air-con' thing would be a pain. But im told it can be installed in the larger engined beetles, i may be wrong.

I;d prefer the BMW myslef, just looking at options with a budget in mind :D

I recently saw a Beetle for sale in a garage on Thanon Moonmuang, just North of the Montri Hotel. Not sure if it's still there or what condition it's in though.

I can't point you to a 3 series for sale right now, but I am sure they are out there since it is a very popular car here. I drive one myself, so I'll share what I know. An early BMW 3 series (the e30 range produced 1984-1991) sells for between 70K and 150k. If you just want to drive it for a year don't pay more than 100K. All are 4 cylinder sohc engines, ranging from usually in 1.6 and 1.8 liter displacements. The earlier M10 engine is drives the cam by chain and is virtually bulletproof. The later M40 has a toothed cam belt which must be replaced every 50k KM or so to avoid a catastrophic failure, so if you buy a later one make sure you have evidence of the last belt change or change it immediately. The m40 has good electronic engine management and better gas mileage. Go for a manual transmission. Make sure the cooling system is in top shape because these engines don't like to overheat. Original wheels are better than cheap aftermarket alloys, especially oversize ones. Happy to answer questions if needed.

I saw a car today matching the description of what you're looking for. I think the sign in the window said 85,000 B. It was located on the west (northbound) side of the Klong Rd 1-5 kms south of Suthep Rd (can't remember how far exactly).

I snipped the OP's email per forum rules.

As a gentle reminder, this is to protect you the member.

It is always good practice to never post your email address on a public forum....unless you ENJOY 9 million email spam messages from Nigerian mafia, and Canadian pharmacies selling Viagra, etc. Spammers employ web crawling software that harvests these addresses.

Please PM the OP if you have any info, or post it here....
