Immagration Visa

Featured Replies

I am wondering, Is it possible to go to Immagration in Bangkok to get a Non-B or do i have to leave the country, I will have all the papers, but i also heard (through rumors) that you dont need to go outside the countyry anymore, Just go to the Immagration deparment and its all done through there

Can anyone confirm?

You must go to another country to get a non-imm b visa.

Definite...out of country....you mention papers....is this for a job ?....if so the Non-imm B is outside the country...Work permit process inside the country...you may be getting the two confused...

Waht visa are you holding now Cat ?

Yes it is possible, But it is alot of leg work.

I came in on a visa exempt 30 stamp the last time I returned to Thailand, now im on my 3rd ,1 year extension of stay

So yes it can be done, changing a visa in bangkok to a non-b if you have the company docs ect. But it was a real p#@n to do at first.

the last 2-3 extensions have been much easier to do.

Contact one of the legal firms on this site for better info.

Cheers

Visas at Immigration are issued or changed if part of the process to apply for one year extensions of stay. So in most cases you must meet those conditions prior to visa issue.

Lopburi3 always has the more direct answer, Thats why we love'em :o

As i dont know how/why they changed it , now I do see ...

To answer most of the questions, I am now holding a Tourist Visa which expires as of May 17, 2008 (I am going to the border on that day to renew 1 month) my company that i work for said that i will need approx 2 months available visa days to do the paper work process (or something about 21 days) i am a bit confused,

I have been told to go to cambodia then complete the paperwork, then which is easier, (Laos or Malaysia for a Non-B visa) Ive been to loas many times for a tourist asnd i feel that is difficult, i went to malaysia once and it was a breeze, but ive heard many changes in malaysia for tourist, has there been any for Non-B as well

Thank you all for your replies and assistance

21 days is the time required to be remaining on your present permitted to stay stamp to start conversion to an immigrant visa inside Thailand.

If you have the company paperwork Vientiane currently has been providing non immigrant B visa issue without the work permit application receipt so it is probably the best place to go.

Are those dates accurate? If they are, I see a small problem.

You're on overstay. Sort it out.

Go earlier Cat and APPLY for at least tourist visa while you are there. Don't do that it is at your own peril. BTW your newfound employer isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer.

straycat911, the expiration date stamped on your tourist visa is irrelevant. It is the “until” date on your entry stamp that matters and you must leave Thailand not later than that date.
