Non-im B 1 Yr Extension Of Stay.

My new business is enabling me to apply for a WP on a non-im "O" and I will next March (2009) come back to Thailand on a nom-im "B". I will then apply for Non-im "B" 1 yr extension of stay (based on Co. with 4 Thai staff) to allow me to do 90 day reporting at local immigration instead of running to the border.

The question I have is if I subsequently leave Thailand for 4 months and then come back, how does this work with the 1 yr extension of stay and 90 day reporting? Is the 1 yr extn. of stay still valid after leaving (and returning to Thailand), missing a 90 day report?

1. When on an extension of stay you must obtain a re-entry permit prior to any foreign travel - cost is 1,000 baht each or 3,800 baht multi and will keep your current permitted to stay until date alive.

2. You only have to make 90 day report if you are in Thailand more than 90 days. If you leave a new 90 day period starts on the day of your return.

I was just about to ask if you have to be here in LOS to renew in person or can an agent handle it. But as I type, I realise that's a stupid question as I'll have my passport with me somewhere else in the world, so I won't bother to ask it.

On a more intellectual note, I understand from reports here that Work Permits are now being issued with 1 year validity as standard. What's the procedure now for syncing the WP renewal with the visa extension renewal? Also does anyone know if this "valid for 1 year" change of policy is uniformly followed in all provinces now?
