My wife has come off the phone with family saying that fuel prices have increased yet again in Thailand and they are seeing literally daily price changes. What's the latest price on the forecourts at the moment? We are having the same problems here in UK as diesel has gone up to £1.28 (81 baht) per litre. I'm getting through about £80-£100 (5,000-6,300 baht) in diesel at the moment just running around locally in the family car. Crazy really. You can see why some farmers are going back to using buffalo's instead of tractors to plow the fields if this carries on.

The increase in fuel prices should not be a surprise to anyone who follows the news.

The oil barrel reached a new high at 135$ yesterday. :o

The price will go up - up and up........due to weak dollar, increasing demand especially from highly populated countries like China & India, and fear of production problems in unstable places like Nigeria, Irak, etc. :D

Today in the UK at my two local garages it is 1.34 per litre and up to 1.40 just up the road, some garage owners here are just profitering, same family own the 3 garages, and have over 60,000 litres delivered evey couple of days, they are making up to 15p per litre, it stinks, there should be a set price on fuel.

Yes, i also think the thai farmers will be going back to the old ways of farming if these rises continue.

Its looking like time to get my bicycle out the shed or go down the local BigC by buffalo. Not sure BigC have car parking for buffalo's though .... :o

Last night 37.36/litre in my local garage, edging up every day just now. Guess if I were living in the UK, I'd be doing a lot of walking:) Interestingly, there's a guy in our village using his two twenty odd year old Buffalo to plough this year instead of the tactac. The 45 baht / litre estimate of a few weeks ago looks ever more imminent. The pickup will be resting & it'll be more motorbiking for me sure:)

A bulk of the UK fuel price is local taxes, similar across Europe. As the price of the underlying product increases so will the retailer have to escalate the pump price to maintain the profit margin that they make on the sale of fuel. This will surely lead to a futher jump in pump prices as the real cost is passed on to customers or closure of small gas stations as people cut back on the driving they do.

I believe that few gas stations make much money just on the sale of fuel, the margin is too tight.

I filled up at a place here in Pattaya the other day, at 40 Baht a litre (Diesel) it is no longer cheap in my eyes but it must be horendous for those on a Thai salary. I'll pop down to Pattaya Nua next time for a look at the B5 diesel sold there.

The move to NGV looks more attractive each day - also the 3.0lt trucks will start coming down in price as people look more closely at their motoring costs.

my truck is a 3.0L which is fine when on holiday but i guess if i was living in Thailand full time then that kind of weekly spend on fuel would be too much. I could ride a buffalo into town I suppose but I'm allergic to animals so I'd be sneezing all the way upto BigC. I could wear a disguise so people did know it was the local farang. A lot of people will be downsizing vehicles now or leaving the car at home in future. Motorcycles are still a good alternative.......
