French Orange Liquor

Recommended Posts

First, as far as I know, there aren't any orange liqueurs in champagne cocktails. If I had to guess, you're looking for Parfait Amor, which I doubt you'll be able to find here, not even sure if I spelled it right. Orangy vanilla like liqueur, may as well use Cointreau.

Champagne Cocktails:

When making any cocktail with Champagne be sure to add the Champagne to the flute last. Pour the Champagne slowly over the other ingredients to avoid an overflow. Stirring these cocktails is not usually necessary, but when you do, stir slowly and gently. For best results serve Champagne cocktails right away.

What was the classic recipe Ian Fleming gave in one of his James Bond books...

A quick Google reveals it!

3/4 to 1 oz of Vodka

2-3 dashes Angostura bitters.

1 sugar cube

4 oz champagne.

Saturate a sugar cube in a champagne flute with angostura bitters. Add vodka, fill with champagne, and serve.

Can't remember the book but Bond stressed "it had to be GOOD champagne!"

Can't remember the book but Bond stressed "it had to be GOOD champagne!"

Luckily it was only a Movie-Line, got to be the worst line ever... cause.. who the heck would have enough guts to destroy the subtle flavors of "a good Champagne" with syrupy ingredients and things like a sugar cube?

Thanks for all your help!

The Riddle is solved, sorry "french" was misleading.. It's APEROL italian!

Aperol.jpg

Aperol's unique flavour and colour is achieved through a subtle blend of bitter orange, gentian, rhubarb and an array of herbs and roots - using a secret recipe that has been unchanged since its first creation in 1919.

Aperol was launched by the Barbieri company, based in Padua, in 1919 on the occasion of the Padua Exhibition - introducing the revolutionary idea of an aperitif with an alcohol content of only 11%.

(from the website of Aperol/Barbieri)

for the Concoction 2 cl Aperol (or to taste) in a flute glass topped with well chilled Pro Secco or Spumante Secco (dry) decorate with generous Orange slice!

And enjoy! :o

hi, it's not Cointreau, not Grand Marnier... it's is used for Champagne Cocktails and I thought it was called Pomerol..or so..

anybody?

Is it available in LoS?

Could it be Grand Curacao, (pronounced cure-a-sao), from the island in Caribbean of the same name? There is a champagne based cocktail called Grand Royale that calls for bubbly and Grand Marnier, but many bartenders would substitute the former because it's cheaper.
