Niloc
Having been a wooshty sauce fiend since my father taught me it is the only sauce to be had with cold mutton, I was delighted to find Holbrooks WS in Bangkok. Last weekend I was shopping in Tesco Lotus and WS was on the list. I spied a Thai made sauce, called 'Gy-Nguang, Formula 2'. It was significantly cheaper than the real stuff so I thought I would give it a try. It is not as strong as the English concoctions but a decent sauce nevertheless, I just had some with northern sausages and I would certainly try it with some cold roast mutton (if I had any...). billd766
But it is not the real thing. Beware of cheap imitations. I love the stuff and Maggi sauce comes second on my list of favourites. PS You can buy it in Makro. Edited May 27, 2008 by billd766
Niloc
My wife also said that I should stick to the genuine article but I am the adventurous kind, this is a very good imitation, maybe it is the original the Poms copied from?
sceadugenga
I had a topic here a while back looking for a sugar free chili sauce similar to Tabasco. (So it doesn't burn when used as a marinade). I use a lot of the good old Maggi sauce for that as well, it's the only other marinade sauce that doesn't char up on the grill.
Niloc
I once made a perfect chilli sauce in Australia, the basic recipe was for Worcestershire sauce and I simply added a case of hot chillies. Never tried it as a marinade though...
