Overstay On Non-imm O Visa?

Featured Replies

:o

I am an Australian with a non-immigrant O multi-entry visa that expires on December 28th. (I don't work while in Thailand, but come and go a bit). However, I just realized that I have (stupidly) overstayed the three-monthly renewal by 10 days.

What is the best thing for me to do here?... Should I hop a flight to Singapore and pay the fine on the way out? And will it affect my existing visa at all? What are my options and possible repercussions?

Thanks for your help. Great information source.

Cross any border as soon as possible. Generally they will take your money and nothing further will be said. It certainly won't effect your existing visa.

As far as further visa applications go, we are told that overstays will not effect them yet, but who knows the truth, or if and when it may become an issue.

If you get stopped for a traffic accident or something else minor on overstay you will be in a world of sh1t, so get it sorted as soon as you can.

Your first choice is the best - depart by air and pay your overstay. There should not be any problem with an immediate return using the same visa.

Great, that's reassuring. I'm off tomorrow then...

Thanks.
