So Whats His Story...............

I have seen and been intrigued by this guy nearly every day.

My friends and I have discussed him and still cant work it out.

I’m talking about the western guy that most afternoons is seen sitting outside a petrol station on Hang Dong Rd, he then at about 8pm each day walks into the town and walks around for what seems to be the rest of the night. He is always in the same ripped dirty clothing, has a long beard and long hair, skinny and appears to homeless.

I wanted to stop him when i saw him outside a bar last night and offer him some help, but didn't as I’m not sure of his situation ( I wouldn't want to offend him if he wasn't actually homeless )

So does anyone know his story, I’m sure we all have seen him and wondered...........

Six months ago I drove past him as I was heading towards Mae Sariang. He was walking along the road about 30 km from Hot heading in that direction. I again saw him last night walking around Thapae Gate.

Perhaps we could start up an investigation. Every afternoon somebody gets close to him and checks him out and then people take turns following him.

We monitor his movements.

We take photos of him.

We post said photos on the net.

You know, get a real Thaivisa caring sharing thing going. :o

None of us really know if he is a 'lost soul' or if any of this was caused by the above mentioned Thai girl, it could quite easily be that he was addicted to drugs/on the run/etc/etc so he could be very unlucky or he could of caused this hiself.

In answer to your question yes my wife and I found the comment funny.

Heaven help him should he be found taking the same seat in some local restaurant every morning at 10:00, exhibiting signs of ahem, grumpiness.

petards, hoist, on, your, own. The caring sharing face of humanity.

Look,

a sad, desperate, weird, odd, ugly, different, poor, foreign, grumpy, - insert as appropriate - person. Lets post it on TV. They love that stuff.

Careful! This guy could turn out to be a Thai Visa member and you will be violating TV rules by posting his pictures! :D

I know that guy. He lets the beard grow extra long in December, puts on a red and white suit with a funny pointed cap, and tells strange stories about the North Pole, Thai deer, elfs. THe and his wife run a commune. She makes great brownies. I played in a band with him, and he didn't know any tunes. We could sure use a dude like that around Chiang Mai.

Jandajoy,

Take it easy. The OP was trying to help the guy for crying out loud.

Your still upset about someone sitting on someone else's favorite stool?

(Someone's cranky and needs a nap)

I have never seen the man referred to, but i have often seen a very thin short man with short hair, a white t.shirt and always unshaven wandering around the north end of the moat with a plastic bag.

i often wonder what he is doing here.

Cranky maybe. Nap no.

N.B.

The OP didn't try and help the guy out. They "thought abut it".

Upset about the "Grumpy" thing? Nope just saddened.

Take it easy? nope not if I disagree with some thing and feel I have the right to express my opinion. It's a forum isn't it?

By the bye lisa, obscure PMs are a bit pointless. If you got some thing to say, say it out loud :o

I hope you find happiness one day.

I change my vote.....YOU are the grumpiest expat :o

By all means keep posting....you keep it interesting. :D

Thanks for the compliment.

To be considered the "Grumpiest Expat" in view of previous threads and your comments therein does not constitute a put down.

I must say that if anything it persuades me that it there are an awfull lot of vitriolic, bored, egotistical, bullying asses on TV that delight in passing there time by "chattering over the plight of others.

It'd be nice to see a genuine poster who actually wanted to help. But, then again a genuine person wouldn't post it.

Happiness ? I think I found something that might be described as that a long time ago. This is a passtime.

thank you for that.

i wondered how he could still be here though.

some friends have told me he has been doing the same thing for many years.

does he have a visa?

in any case, a very sad story.

he also seems to be a very rude man.

I have problems, we all have problems.

my husband is a big drinker.

i try to be nice to people though and my pm was polite.

You are polite. I apologise if I was a tad abrupt.

Yes he is a bit rude but they're like that here.

Big drinkers are a problem. But I think it's the things they do when they drink that are the real problem.

Does he get violent, abuse you, verbally, physically/sexually?

Does he run off after other girls or boys?

Has he got lots of money?

You need to analyse the situation carefully and I'm sure there are lots of people here who can advise, comment or help you.

The best thing is to talk about it. Get it out in the open.

Catharsis.

Stay strong.

Tragic. The fact that he insults bar girls may well be enough to prompt the TV team into action. That'll help him.... NOT.

Friendship might though.

I'll be in Chiang Mai soon, perhaps we can compare notes.
