Interista, yes a foreigner can purchase property in Malaysia, may it be landed property or an apartment. There are some minor restrictions but its not a big deal, unlike Thailand. The property will be in your name.

Just approach a good agent, approach any good lawyer in Malaysia or the relevant Governmental bodies in Malaysia. I dont know what your budget is but I would suggest buying a plot of land somewhere between Kuala Lumpur and Genting, very nice! :D One hour commute to work though....if you work in Kuala Lumpur.

If you are looking for an apartment (good investment and the price escalates, easy to rent out), buy one in Bangsar or Damansara Heights. :o

Good Luck!

Settling down in Malaysia wouldn't be as easy as in Thailand.

I beg to differ honeyen...............language for one, will not be a problem in Malaysia. :D Even the street vendors and taxi drivers speak English.

It is more costly to live in Malaysia but its not hard to settle in. :o

I differ.I don't think that the living costs in Malaysia are far more expensive than in Thailand.I think the ratio is that if it costs you 1 baht in Thailand,It will not cost you more than 1.25 baht in Malaysia.Somethings are even cheaper than that. But overall average won't cost more than I said.i.e. 1 =1.25 .SIngapore is very expensive.

Hi,

Yes, you can buy a house and own a business in Malaysia.

If you are English speaking....... this is ideal for you.

English is the second language of this nation.

To give you an example, the Chinese and Indians here speak English

with oneanother. The Chinese will speak English and Chinese at the same

time with their family members or friends. I speak more English than Chinese

with my wife and other family members and friends.

Parliament laws are written in Malay (official) and also in English.

Contracts are also written in English with the consent of both parties.

High court cases can also be conducted in English with consent.

Most of our TV programs are in English. We have news and other programs in Malay,

Chinese and Tamil. Therefore if you are English speaking, you will not be lost.

If you like gambling....... there is a Casino in Genting Highlands (an International tourists attraction.....

a one hour drive from KL city.).

For more info..... visit the Malaysia, My Second Home website.

Check this web site:

http://www.tourism.gov.my/my2ndhome/2ndhome.htm

"There are quality residences - terrace houses, semi-detached, bungalows, apartments and condominiums all over the country. There are also some of the finest residences available in tourism zones - on beaches, near jungles and near theme parks, recreational places and city centres. Foreigners are eligible to buy 2 houses at a cost of not less than RM150,000 each. For this purpose, they are also entitled for 60% loan from local banks."

I've only visited Malaysia once, but I have to say I was impressed by the multicultural feel of the place. Even the bus drivers and stall-holders spoke English. The mix of Malay, Chinese, and Indian food was great - much better than the narrow range of Thai foods available here. The girls were pretty too.

Hmm... makes we wonder why I am still living here. Inertia maybe, I don't know! :o

Hi,

" One night stand " thing.

No problem. Once you are here........ your local friends here will show you all

the way. I can't describe here in details.

What you want...... you will get. There are many expatriaties/ living and doing business or working here. For fun, entertainment, one night stand....... no problem. Your local friends here will get you what you want.

For your info, many retirees prefer to live in Penang. From Penang to KL,

it takes only about a four hour leisure drive...... on the new non-stop double lane

highway....... from Penang right up to Singapore on the super double lane highway.

As a matt salleh (farang equivalent) who had the pleasure of living in Malaysia for 2.5 years (and is hankering to get back), I can tell you that its a wonderful place to live. Nice foods, relaxed people, reasonable weather etc.

I do definitely agree that if you are thinking of making any major purchases like land, a home etc., get a lawyer to check the deal out ! Sharks are just as plentiful in Malaysia as they are in neighbouring countries.

I dont wanna make this post too long so I'll skip to replying to honeyen's saucy comments . . . .

Is it easy to get sex in Malaysia ? Hhhhmmm, it depends where you go fishing for it. In terms of approachability of girls, I'd say its about the same as in Thailand. Many girls are friendly, much friendlier than Singaporeans. Just avoid being a 'waterfish' as there are definitely some girls for whom material possessions mean the world. Sex with them is easy enough to attain but watch your wallet !

Having said such great things about Malaysia, there are some things about it that really suck . . . especially politics, bumiputera loans, land and housing lots ! Maybe thats a whole other topic though.

On the whole, I love the place - I get back as often as I can. :o

I would suggest the "anglers" go to Bintang Walk, The Beach Club or Bangsar (that's where the sluts hang).........its a good place for fishing provided you have the "bait".............careful though, they are more fussy than Thai women............they also go for looks and age :o

It's true, you'd hardly see an old, fat, ugly farang holds a beautiful young girl's hand walking on the street. Life is hard for scumbags in Malaysia :D

Yes, I agree . . . most Malaysian girls tend to look for a broader package . . .

not as many are looking for a means of support alone.

In general, they have the education levels of their Singaporean counterparts . . but less of the attitude. You still do get your hoigthy toighty Ah Lians and the stuck up types . . . but in general the Malaysian girls are very nice. Whereas in Indonesia, I had to be careful of the ayam/chickens, in Malaysia, I am much more relaxed.

You guys commenting like this about Malaysian girls You make my heart start melting and longing to go to Malaysia again.Last time I went to Penang just a couple of months ago.But I didn't find life that easier. And usually I don't like disco or that kinda girls too.I like good girls.Working woman type.In thailand,It's easily to find them from Icq and Internet. But in Malaysia, though I searched from ICQ,I got plenty but no body replied to me :o

A question for Malaysia guys,Is there any chatting website or chatting program which Malaysians like to chat and hang out for appointments through it?How do you guys approach a normal girl there if you like? And usually which ethnic girls are easier to approach?Malay, chinese or Indian?

Sas.......most Malaysian women do not look for men on the internet.....except those who are more....."desperate" :o . Those you chatted up are most prob working women who use ICQ solely for work (some companies do)

Hahaha....which ethnic is easier??? Usually Indians and Malays.......for Malays you have to convert though........LMAO :D

IMHO, Malaysia is much much better than Thailand, be it to settle or just to holiday, i find we falang, (mabey english in paticular) are teated far better than in Thailand, plus the night life in K.l is great and you dont get sent home at 1 0' clock in fact it's just starting to warm up, foods good and prices are almost the same as BKK,, i would advise everyone to go check it out and dont get blinkered by Thai b.S
