You can work on an O visa, these stamps appear at various times from various consulates and seem to be generally ignored by the WP and extension people.

I've got an 'employment prohibited' => no problem getting a work permit, and a 'no extension of stay' (on a different visa) => no problem extending (with a different work permit).

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

"O" is for "other reasons" (not tourist or business or those that have a specific category).

The Employment Prohibited is to warn you that work is not allowed - a work permit would be required for that. It does not mean you can not obtain a work permit; only that without you can not work.

A bank account can be opened with a visa exempt entry if you check the right office/person - just go from place to place. But most banks these days do want to have a certificate of your residence address (from your Embassy) although being with a Thai might help and not all require.

What is the reason for your non immigrant O visa issue? The obvious advantage is the 90 day stay.

I looking to settle oustside than my home country (uk) just want to see how hard it would be for myself to get the right visas etc. and the type of job i do weather it would be worth the move as thailand is a more easy lifestyle than uk i know wages are lower that i not to worried about as long i get somwhere decent to stay i am a qulified chef i dont know if that is barred under the imigration rules under work for thai only etc ?

I have worked for some really well known hotels that are bassed in uk and thailand and i know once i go there it wont be a problem to actually find work im more concerned if i fall under the banned list of employment but these days they are being more open towards frang who have qulifications i can also teach english as well if i need to but that is last resort (not really want to do that) as i have a clean record and i have finished school with all my papers etc and i have nvqs, and diplomas etc just like some more info and would really like to find out if i good enough for the move

Do not believe there is any problem obtaining a work permit under the chef category. There are a number here at various hotels.
