Police seize crime proceeds, Queensland homes

THE Queensland homes of alleged southern crime families are being seized as part of a major police assets grab to be redistributed to the victims of crime.

Victorian police seized assets valued at $81 million from suspected criminals in 2006-07, including properties on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane, and a $500,000 fully serviced condominium in Thailand.

The Thai apartment was the squad's first overseas seizure.

It was owned by a Melbourne drug trafficker who also lost $1.5 million in property in the city's southeast.
