June 13, 200818 yr A friend has an interesting situation and even after searching the forum I have no real idea as the answer. He is due to receive a first work permit very soon. This, due to various delays with the Labour Department will expire in about two weeks time (corresponding with the admitted until date stamped in his passport). He is on a single issue Non Immigrant B visa. He has to leave Thailand on a business trip next week and will not return to Thailand until about a week after his current admitted until date. He plans to apply at an Asian Thai Embassy for a one year multiple non immigrant B while he is on this trip. He will have all the correct paper work If he applies by proxy to renew his WP on the day before it expires, he has seven days to get all the remaining papers to Labour. The question is that if his re-entry stamp is seven days after the current admitted until date, but the work permit renewal was made on time and a copy of the re-entry (6 days after the previous admitted until date) is supplied; will the renewal be successful, or will his Work Permit be deemed as expired? Visa extension/re-entry permit is not an option for him. Any ideas?
