Chiang Mai Immigration Office Hours

Featured Replies

Hi,

I need to get the 30-day extension to my tourist visa soon, as my first entry expires next Sunday (the 22nd). Problem is, I work every day and won't be able to make it to immigration until 4 PM any day this week. Since immigration closes at 4:30, will they tell me to go home if I arrive at 4, because there may not be time to process my visa by the end of their workday?

Just trying to figure out if I should request a short day at work or a day off.

Thanks!

I don't know there policy on time management but expect they will process your extension; if you do not mention working. I believe you know that no work can be done on a tourist visa? Or are you attending classes and calling that work by chance?

Even illegal work is no excuse for missing an immigration date. I suggest that you leave work early. Maybe tell your boss why you need to go. Better yet, tell your boss you need a work permit and a letter so you can get a proper visa. Only once did I show up there after 3:30 pm (full of pain medication), and there was no time to run home and get the last document they needed. So, I went the next day and ended up on overstay.
