How Do I Save This Image?

Featured Replies

Here you go:

Or in FireFox File -> Save Page As. The image is in the associated directory. By the by a click to save simply saves a file called spaceball.gif which is blank.

Or the hidden flickr LINK

Sometimes when using Firefox your profile will become corrupted and you can right click all day but the 'save as' function won't work.

The quickest solution is to create a new profile.

How to do: click here.

Or, in Firefox, install "Download Sort" and save the image automatically in any folder, by image type, date, URL, etc, by simply dragging the image a little bit.

What about if I do not have Firefox installed, any other easy way to get that picture onto my hard disk?

I tried to e-mail it to my mail box and received this Message.pdf

I thought normally you just need to right click the mouse on the picture and a menu appears that's where you select "save picture as" and that's it. Of course to indicate location of file that you want saved into.

That picture has some funky java script or something going on to do the eye box thing and probably to obfuscate the image URL and prevent hot-linking.

I looked at the page's source code to find the original image and then loaded it up to my Photobucket account so the OP can now right click and save and also so that the pic will still be there even if the owner of the Flickr account deletes or moves the original.

Original image from Flickr is here: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/64/203536324_08344af624.jpg

slackula you saved my day, since I usually know how to save a picture. What I wanted to learn is whether my IE7 does not work properly or Firefox would be a must. Now it seems that your idea of doing it is the only way to go.

...I looked at the page's source code to find the original image...

Hee, hee! That's a neat trick!

I just had a look at that page and you can deduce the location of the original files shown in the small "stream" pictures on the left - the properties show a link such as "http: //farm2.static.flickr.com/1317/1177077249_4cbaee603b_s.jpg", so all you have to do is remove the "_s" at the end (indicates "small") to get the big picture.

But I haven't found how to get back to the appropriate "stream" picture from the link Trevor gave.

P.S. The "Link" that A_Traveller gave in post #3 was the one you found by looking at the source code.

P.P.S. I wonder if there's a Firefox extension that gets around all this? :o

^ Thanks for the kudos re the link in post 3. It's not javascript but a CSS trick which does the obscuring.

Regards

PS If you have Web Developer in FF {in IE DevToolBar disable all CSS}, switch off inline CSS and the image is accessible.

PPS IN FF select Tools -> Page Info Tab Media and scroll through. Images are shown there, and by right clicking to copy the link you may be able to access a file that way by pasting it into the browser address bar. It works in this example by the by.

I use Explorer 7. No-one has yet explained how to save the individual opened images on this page :

http://www.flickr.com/photos/fon_tok_mak_mak/favorites/

And why these save, as normal, by right-clicking :

http://www.flickr.com/photos/fon_tok_mak_mak/

The first set is very strangely-formatted. To prevent hot-linking, someone suggested. So how did you save Miss Orange Bikini above as a Jpeg? Thanks again.

Also, on this one :

http://www.flickr.com/photos/ossiehermosis...57594271817089/

What is the function of the white/yellow rectangular box within the image when highlighted? Is it the Flickr webmaster or the Filipino person posting who inserted all these weird devices?

P.S. Aren't Cebuanas cute :o ?

I just had a look at that page

So did I and I am still looking. Must be the artistic camera work.

On a serious note, I could not save it either.

For ease I mentioned how to save the page in Firefox, which, guess what, works almost identically in IE 7 too..

In IE 7 File ->Save As [select web page complete, not the default usually] this will create an html page and an associated directory containing the images.

The box is a highlight to draw attention to her eyes. The css layering is designed to reduce people 'right clicking'.

OK, got it .. but I have to Save As 'Webpage Complete', not as 'HTML'. Thanks.

^ Save the page as Iris.html. Now look for a directory called Iris. In that you will find the image.

PS Xpost glad it worked.

Thanks to A-Traveller.

To save that pretty girl by a Right-Mouse-Click do as follows. Recipee for XP and IE7 less savvy users:

Download to your hard disk Internet Explorer Developer Toolbar

Install this program file, start Internet Explorer and within the main toolbar click onto IE Developer Toolbar.

After that click onto the Disable and subsequently onto All CSS see Picture.pdf

And after that the pretty lady can be saved onto your local disk by a Right-Mouse-Click and is yours. Hope this helps.

I have a freeware download called MWSnap (just google it) on my desktop. It will capture any picture, portion of text or the whole web page. You just go into your 'start' click on the MWSnap icon and go to the choices up in the left hand toolbar. Then 'save as' in your documents folder. Easy little gadget and it's free!

Great little program. Works well. Even I understood it.

Another pic. from the same page.

Who could resist not trying to solve the problem asked by the OP?

This is what I did using Firefox and an extension called AdBlock-Plus.

1) Right click on the original image, and ad-blocked "spaceballs.gif".

2) Reloaded the page (I don't know if this is really necessary).

3) Right click on the image to save the real JPG of the senorita (select "Save image as...").

4) Any viewing of other similar images (i.e. of other models) did not require Steps 1-2 to be performed; just start at Step 3.

Of course, if Ossie & company find this post, then I'm sure they will devise another strategy to guard their copyrighted material.

Maybe it would be a better idea to get the girls to come round to my house and take the photos myself. :o

Brilliant Gumballl! That has to be the best solution yet. :o

P.S. I won't tell Ossie & Co. if you don't. :D

Edit: And you can make the image bigger - resize it - now that spaceball.gif is not sitting on top of it.

^ Seconded. And the lateral thinking prize goes to .... Gumball {Please remember speeches [which may include references to the ever faithful hound] must be less than 2 minute or the band strikes up}.

PS I'm off to AdBlock Plus now...... :o

You guys are quite welcome! The only drawback of working on the solution is that now I am an addict of the Flickr site. The pictures of the Cebu girls are awesome. Is there anything comparable but with Thai girls?

Ok can all "interested parties" here now come forward and admit they got so very into it only because these girls are hot?

thanks :o

^ Yes..... :o

Agreed, but remember: "painted cakes do not satisfy hunger!" :o

I think lite beer got it right somewhere... :D

LOL ... if I wanted to be tititlated(sp?) I'd be on another forum... I am going to take a cold shower and then book my ticket to the Phillippines...
