Was thinking it might be wise to combine the 1M or 1.5M Baht TV (Thaihealth based) insurance with the 5M/20M TV (LMG Pacific Healthcare Co.).

Doing the nos it seems to make sense to use Thaihealth to cover a high deductable (200.000 Baht) on the LMG 5M insurance and thereby have a high cover backup(LMG renewable for life) should expenses increase above the Thaihealth cover? With such a high deductable it makes little sense to include outpatient of course (unless they are seperate?).

Thaivisa Insurance; what would be the situation then with a 2M Baht claim. One holds say the 1M Baht Thaihealth version and the 5M Baht LMG version with ALL possible deductables (200k/no out-patient/no treatment in mentioned countries).

Cheers!

In this case very simple, each insurance company would pay out what was agreed on the policy – as long as they did not overlap.

Both insurance companies would know you were insured with another company so they would sort things out between themselves if there was an overlap.

Ok - so for this example; a Surgery cost above the Thaihealth sub-limit would then be covered by LMG, and the 10% not covered by the "major medical" part would be covered by LMG.

What if the room rate is is 6000 Baht/day but one has the Thaihealth 1M plan only giving 4000 Baht/day. Will there be a discussion as to "where" the 200.000 Baht deductable is applied?

Or will the procedure simply be: LMG sees that Thaihealth has MORE than 200k Baht in costs and will pay whatever Thaihealth does not pay (up to the 5M Baht and with the given sub limits if any).

Cheers!

Yes, that is what they would do but first you need to get the two companies to accept you – some companies do not work with others

Excellent question! Hard to figure out from the answer if yours is a good idea or not. Maybe there is a better way to insure major medical coverage. Who knows????

Rick; thank you! :o

TV insurance: so in this example will Thaihealth and LMG be willing to "get along" you think? Seems like a brilliant way to get the "best of both worlds":

1.Thaihealth being recognized with no payment at 200 hospitals here. Treatment will start as soon as they see the card will cost 12k for 1M IPD

2. LMG with high (200k deductable+no out patient+no treatment EU/US Etc.) will cover up to 5M for around 10-15k depending on age (or even 20M if buy that)

So a round 30k will ensure covered up to 5M for someone in their 40ties/50ties. Sounds like a great solution to me.

Another tricky side question: noticed that Thaihealth do NOT cover even accidental damage to teeth(!). If that was part of the 2M baht total costs would LMG be willing to cover that? Or would they argue that it should be part of the 200k deductable even though Thaihealth had OTHER costs above the 200k? (I.e. "what comes first" in the calculation).

Cheers!

Again apologies : Sorry but Thai Health does cover for 'accidental damage to teeth' but only for the taking out if necessary.

Thanks - and my first question? Will Thaihealth(Thaivisa insurance) and LMG 5M/20M work ok with each other as I am asking?

In theory yes but until we have your two applications forms and they are submitted we cannot know.
