Sorry for asking this question. I looked high and low but could find my previous post regarding this. I must be blind.

I am doing my 90 day border run to Mae Sai in a couple of days. I am aware of the 20k requirement (N/I O) to return to Thailand. I will be riding my bicycle over the border and back.

If "asked" for the 20K will

(1) $140US plus the additional money in baht accepted?

(2) Does immigration consider the cash value of items such as my bicycle, my camera, and such? Right now, I have $140US + about 5K baht. I would prefer not do more ATM withdrawals as I spend my money ever so slowly. I also don't like carrying that much cash either.

edit: added more information

Immigration will not consider the cash value of items such as your bicycle, camera, etc.

Although they rarely ask you should have the 20,000 Baht on you. "$140US + about 5K baht" is not 20,000 Baht! There is a sign posted reserving the right to ask. So anything is possible. Better safe than sorry.

Are you saying that there is a legal requirement to show Thai Immigration that you are in possession of 20,000 Baht in cash as a pre-requisite to being permitted to re-enter Thailand on a Non-Imm O class Visa?????

Thanks for the reply but please read my posting again. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. I did not say it was 20k, I know it is approx 10k. That is why I asked the question about the cash value of the possessions I will have when crossing the border instead of withdrawing an additional 10k from my atm account.

I believed 20 k requirement are meant to apply to entry on tourist visa (though imm has never asked me to produce). Since you are on NON-im O, there is no such rule, isn't it? :o

Only if they ask. So as it has been said, better safe than sorry :o

That being said, I have entered Thailand over the past 1 1/2 years 6 times and was never asked. This time I am not tempting faith any longer.

You now say, "Thanks for the reply but please read my posting again. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. I did not say it was 20k"

Your OP stated, "I am doing my 90 day border run to Mae Sai in a couple of days. I am aware of the 20k requirement (N/I O) to return to Thailand."and you also asked in your OP, "If "asked" for the 20K will"...etc..)

Yes, perhaps you were'nt clear at all !!! :o

You seemed to be a bit defensive even with your smiley. I only asked that you re-read my post but since you still think I wasn't clear at all, I will make a concerted effort to be a lot clearer next time.

Btw, I wish $140US got me 15k bahts? :D That's over 107 baht per $1US. :o

I just came home from Mae Sai (visiting family up north).

I did not think about the money.

When entering Thailand again, I thought that if he asks me I'll show my bankbook from Siam commercial bank.

He never asked.
