Work permit rquired to buy a car in thailand?

Hi,

Am new to this forum and have learnt a lot so far.

One thing I am confusing about? what do you need to buy a car in Thailand?. I have heard conflicting reports. Some say you need a work permit, some say you don't? what do you need?

Hi Steph,

You do not need a work permit in order to purchase a car, however, a Non-Immigrant Visa is required if you want to purchase and have the car registered as the owner in your name.

Thanks for that! but i am now confused about the Non-immigrant visa..... have read the website and have realised that the non-immigrant visa is for someone who has a letter from a company and intends to work in Thailand.

We do not intend to work in the first instance but my husband may at a later date. Do we have to apply for a tourist's visa as opposed to non-immigrant?
