Sausage,

Mate i'm also an aussie. I've been working in Indonesia for a fair while now but am returning to australia next month and will be going to the embassy next week to try and get my wife a partner visa so that we can marry in australia and she can stay with me. I've been with her for 2 years.

Exactly what documentation were you required to bring to the embassy and I may be mis understanding your post.. were you successful?

I'm living in the US and I will feel your pain next year or the year after.......I started to document my visits, contact with her and financial support. Here in the US, you need to put a book together. I even have a picture of us when we were friends living is a US Territory (Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands) The things I will have in it are as follows:

documentation of trips to BKK

documentation of trips within Thailand (itineraries with both our names)

Photos (NO not those kind :o )

My vonage VoIP phone records so I can demonstrate that I call her everyday.

My bank records to show w/ds in the BKK while I'm in the USA to show I am supporting her.

I would think it's all about showing that you are in a serious relationship.

My friend applied for a fiance visa for his girlfriend (now wife) who lived in China. When he went in for the interview, the interviewer said that they are probably the only couple who will get a fiance visa that day because they were able to demonstrate a "history" together. Other people there basically indicated or provided documentation that they only spent one day together.......WOW they must be really talented to sway a farang....heheheheh

Good luck to ya!

Sausage,

I decided to contact some agents to help me with the visa. It costs me alittle bit but to save me some time i'm happy with that. They tell me everything I need and make sure its all prepared before they enter it. Also they say whilst we are waiting for the approval she can come over on a tourist visa as long as she is out of Australia when we lodge the spouse visa application and when they approve it. I've gone with the Spouse Visa as there is less documentation that has to be provided. I usually use skype for my calls now and I have lost my calling card number so can not get a history printed from that. So hopefully my daily hour to 2 hour calls for the last 6 months are enough.
