Farming On Samui

Featured Replies

I have 1 and half rai of land un used. Can anyone reckonmend something to farm in a small space of farming land and something that grows quite quickly. is now the right time to start farming witrh the weather and the rain season round the corner. there again is the hot season too hot.

any tips please

Papaya, banana, lemongrass, chilli. My garden is very dry and they all grow with zero maintenance.

Imagine how plants would grow (in dry season) with a drip irrigation system. :o There are some simple ones available on the market. A simple hose with small holes would do:

It'd be a pretty expensive Field given the outrageous price of Land on the Island.. :o

OP has already stated he has one and a half rai of unused land, so why not? Doesn't change the expense any if the land is going unused.

Where is the land BigC, is it near the ocean or inland? Hilly or flat? What kind of soil is it? It is clay or sandy? What has been growing on it previously (scrub and weeds or other trees?)

It was meant to be an attempt at a little bit of humour SBK, i didn't mean it literally, because i read what the OP had previously wrote... :o

it is inland at the bottom of a mountain with a sea veiw ( not that that matters if i am farming ). the soil is very rocky. i have loads of rocks i want to just get rid of.

just got alot of wide open space after having it trimed down. had this land for a while . so thats for the sugestion i will get my wife to work lol :o

Sorry msingh, guess we just have different ideas of funny :D

BigC, sorry if I wasn't clear, the rocks aren't such a big deal if you are going to be planting small plants, but does the soil hold a lot of water or does the water drain pretty quickly? does it feel sandy to the touch? If it dries out quickly then some plants would need regular watering and fertilizer. Guess I wasn't making myself clear enough. :o
