Mandatory Exile Period After Tourist Visa Expires

Featured Replies

This is a two part query:

1. Can someone tell me if Americans still receive a 30 day tourist visa on arrival?

2. At the end of the 30 day period, can the same person return on a non-immig visa within 2 weeks of departure, and thus avoid the new mandatory 30 day exile period?

Thanks

Jake

1. No. Never have. They can receive 30 day visa exempt entry on arrival.

2. There is no exile period and never was. There is a rule about not using more than 90 days in a six month period, but you are allows able to use visa for entry. Even this 90 days in six month rule appears not to be enforced recently from some reports.

Thanks Lopburi3.

I have fond memories of Lopburi from the late 1960s. At the time, it was the only route to Bangkok from Takhli Air Base in Nakon Sawan. Two lane trafic all the way. The monkeys at the Lopburi circle were a big attraction then and I think still now.

Remember well that long ride - especially when under water during the rainy season - helped a lot when the Asia Highway opened in 1970.

Geez Lopburi...how long have you been living here then???

HL :o

Only been here full time since retirement in 1992. As often as possible before that from 1968 on.

And yes the Monkeys are STILL there

Saw them crawling all over the Buildings

and doing their tight rope antics along the electric cables

just a few months ago
