Apple Air Ssd Price Reduction

Featured Replies

Apple have reduced the SSD price by 500USD so from 3098 to 2598. I'd assume that this is in part driven by the fall in overall flash memory prices, though it did always seem a considerable price hike even allowing for it being 'Apple'. If price continue to fall at this rate, guess Air 2 expected in Jan, will offer a storage upgrade.

You are mistaken, fast Flash SSDs did cost in the region of USD 1000 for 64GB before, so the Air price difference was exactly that.

But now it seems prices are in motion, there's much cheaper SSDs coming, and they will be faster than before and more energy efficient.

I have wondered about this before - an 8GB Flash stick costs BHT 1000 - so 64GB worth of Flash sticks would cost 8000. But a 64GB SSD cost 30,000. Maybe the SSD prices are converging now as manufacturers figure out how to make it _fast_?! Would be nice...

^ Pardon? Apple reduced the price last week for the SSD equipped Air by 500 USD, 400 USD {999 -> 599 USD} on the SSD and 100USD {300 -> 200 USD} on the upgrade to the 1.8Ghz chip.

Yes or no?
