the best protection seems to be the "on screen keyboards".

I disagree... The keylogger i tried would also take a low-quality jpg on each mouse click if you wanted. All the 'attacker' needs to do is scan through the pics and look for on screen keyboards.

Also, any decent keylogger just records keystroke events, so it doesn't matter if it came from an on screen keyboard or a physical keyboard.

all this password security doublespeak is bullshit anyway. the safest way to avoid aids is to abstain from sex. the safest way to scare off the mafia is to have nothing worth of stealing. everything else can be cracked. go online only with ur old outdated and naked system from 20 years ago (does pretty good on web-browsing). transfer your precious private (embarassing) stuff offline to ur private system. this way u can forget all that virus, hacker, security, anti-terrorists trying to press home ur last cent. never go online with nothing sensitive. fuc_king around with strangers in a steamy darkroom is 4 sure more dangerous than 2 platonically adore your dear spouse. never loose ur common sense......

I use KeepassPortable and think that it's quite good, especially its portability. I would be a bit concerned about using software generated passwords. When I travel, I take my USB thumb drive loaded with Keepass and there could be a possibility of a worm or virus infection on my flash drive that could make the drive useless, leaving me without any passwords. I developed a simple pattern to build a unique password per website. My passwords are usually 12 to 14 chars long and consists of a number of fixed and variable patterns I build the password with.

I agree with that the KeePass generated passwords could be a problem because they're essentially impossible to remember, but I just email a copy of the database to myself before travel as a preventative measure. At least then it's just a matter of downloading KeePass again and dropping the old db in place.

I would be too paranoid :o to allow a copy of my password file to be floating on a public server, even if I called it "bozo" (the clown).
