My Visa Expires in a month and i have been told i need to leave the country and apply for a new visa (not get a renewal on my current visa)

I know that a lot of places will only offer a 90 day single entry Non Immigrant B visa, but i would much prefer to get a 1 year Multi Entry.

Where is a good place to go for this? I've held a visa and work permit for 6 years, but the new company i work for (for the last year) are over allocated so they will not get any renewals, according to the company lawyer. i was told Indonesia will issue a 1 year multi (Bali!!!!) but KL and Singapore wont.

So where is a good place (preferably SEA) to get a 1 year multi?

Thanks in advance

Not sure what you mean by 'over allocated so they will not get any renewals'.

However if you have a work permit with your new company then you can get a one year multiple entry visa at KL, provided you have the correct paperwork - check this Thai Ministry of Foreign Affars link for details http://www.mfa.go.th/web/2482.php?id=2492. Also you will will need a mark and signature stamp from Labour near your current workpermit permission stamp showing your one year validity end date.

If you do not have a current work permit, then there is nowhere to my knowledge in SE Asia that will issue you with a one year multiple entry non B Visa.

my husbiand got one in austrailia. but it may depend on ur nationality. we are american. we got help from an attorney, named sabastian, good guy with isaan lawyers. contact them, they helped us quickly (in less than a week) based on what ive read, u r going to have to leave the country to get a non b if u dont get it based on a work permit. chek them out at www.isaanlawyers.com you could also do a double tourist visa to laos with local company. its about 6 months when u add in options of two 30 day extentions. hope this info is helpful. take care.

Nah, it has to be a Non Imm B - i have one currently (including supporting work permit) - but for some reason the company lawyers are saying we cannot get the visa/work permits 'extended' so i am forced to leave the country and apply for a new Visa :o

If you have the work permit then you should not have a problem getting a one year multiple non immigrant B at KL.

Your paper work needs to be near 'perfect' though. Check this thread http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Non-1year-Ku...It-t198265.html Make sure your WP validity is correctly marked, before you go to KL and also make sure the WP 5 application is made to extend your Work Permit validity before the expity date, subject to the visa being issued.

The extension your companies lawyers are talking about, is a visa extension from your local immigration, which have many requirements including foreign/local staff ratios and certain miniumum profit levels. This is probably why the lawyers say you cannot 'extend this year'

Well my Work Permit expires on the 6th August, My Visa expires 8th August. I'm leaving for Bali (managed to swing that through work) on the 5th August as apparently the Consulate there will issue a 1 year Multi Entry Non Imm B - the HR Lady called them yesterday and confirmed!

Yeah the whole situation is a bit strange, i thought that once you held the Work Permit, everything can be extended whilst you continue to work for the company... I think the lawyers handling the visa/work permits are not advising us correctly :o

The primary issue is your visa. Work permit extensions are always applied for locally.

However new non immigrant visas are obtained overseas, visa extensions are applied for within Thailand.

Visa extensions are much more difficult to get and it can be particularly problematical if you work for a new or smaller sized comany.

Visa extensions can be obtained at your local immigration office for a number of reasons. However there are very strict criteria laid down that define your eligibilty - check section 7.1 of these two translations of the current police order (606/2549).
