Oh, sorry.

Having read the short topic:

I straight think of ladies make-up or a building enquiry:

I think we need more information to enable to supply a correct answer !

What the heck you talking about???

Its the ladies forum. Its pretty obvious to most ladies, I imagine, what Nampeung is talking about :o:D

_________

Nampeung, I read once that if you want a heavier coverage, use a sponge (make it damp but wring out well, if you want a lighter coverage). Fingers are supposed to give you more application control, if you want to just put it on certain areas or heavier in some places etc. Some, as Zaza says, use both. I suppose creates a foundation first with a sponge then uses fingers for other areas?

Personally, I dont use foundation ever. NOT that I have good skin, but i find it is messy, doesnt look good on me (seems to emphasis bad points and clog my skin..but maybe i havent found right one), and as I have oily - combination skin so in warm or humid weather it just slides off. Instead I use Boots No7 concealer pen around the eye area and wherever else i may need it. Its similar to YSL Touche' Eclait, so isnt heavy, just light reflective. Then I use just an oil control non coloured powder, that way I can touch up in the day time if my face gets too oily. Just wash my skin and apply the powder. If im going out somewhere special or in the evening, I will sometimes use a stick concealer on areas I want a bit of coverage. Or, if i know im going to an aircon area, I may use a little bit of Revlon colorstay like a concealer, rather than like a foundation (applied with fingers). I find its the only one that stays put on my face and doesnt rub off easy.

Thats not really helpful, on the application front, sorry. Just wanted to respond to jimmy ( :D ) and thought i would add my opinion. But, what I really wonder sometimes, is how ladies can keep foundation on their skin in warm or humid weather. For me its impossible!

i also don't wear foundation, sometimes just concealer. i would suggest that most people don't need it, it ususally ends up looking tacky. a good moisturizer is better, maybe look for a tinted one. or i used to use revlon skinlights, which was great, but it was discontinued!!!! maybe find something like that.

Sorry guys it's nothing sleezy.

p.s: I LOVE the title! :o (That may be why we have a couple of male visiters popping in 555! Just teasing guys! :D)

Yes, good title :o

I don't use foundation either, but a nice tinted moisturizer, as girlx suggests, is a good idea. I am a finger person as well, I see them using sponges on tv but just never went to the extra effort to try it out.

Not relative to your exact question again, but I want to just say that the other advantages of not using foundation are things like: Not having it come off on your white clothes, or your bf's/husbands nice white clothes when you give him a hug; you dont need to worry about touch-ups or if its gone all 'cakey' or worn slightly off making your face look a bit dirty/unwashed; you dont need to worry about; you dont need to worry about unmatched colours (dont know about you guys, but my skin colour changes a lot here because sometimes im out a lot and get a bit of tan or pinkiness, but when im in a for a few days the colour fades quickly.); you dont have to feel embarrassed if your guy touches your face and the colour comes off on his fingers (yeuchh!); and finally, you know that whatever skin flaws you have (i have many) the guy you are with knows about them and accepts you..he wont one day see you without foundation and think "OMG!!!" :D

Just ditch the foundation Nampeung! :o

Another one here that doesn't use foundation. For the same reasons the others actually. Clogs the pores, comes off on clothes, doesn't stay on long if outside during the day (even for a short walk).

I did notice that (in the beginning) the longer I went without, the healthier my complexion became.

I do own foundation though, two different bottles. But that's because I can't (yet) break the habit of buying it, then taking it with me to the west on holiday (I don't wear it there either).

not everyone has an even complexion so foundation is essential. Also not everyone has problems using it & I put ito n every day in thialand & UK. Foundations, if applied & set properly with a loose translucent powder wont come off after an hour, will only rub off onto clothes if you have a habit of rubbing your face over peoples clothes & wont clog your pores if you use a good moisteriser & follow a thorough cleansing routine at the end of the day. :D

As for best coverage, well most natural is by the finger, but always sweep upwards & then use a dampened spounge to dab thicker amount over areas that are harder to cover (scars, red veins, spots) & also to smudge the foundation into your neck line but if you can't be bothered then using your fingers again shouldbe fine as long as the is right.

The biggest mistake women make with foundation is the wrong colour. Go to a beauty counter & have them match to your exact skin tone. For some reason thai women always go for a colour too light & end uplooking like ghosts & western women go too dark & end up with the dreaded tide mark around their neck & like they just got tangoed (orange face) :o

Personally I would rather use a foundation with spf than sun cream which leaves the skin clogged & sticky (for me).

hand job please, then the sponge after. or you can go sponge>hand job>sponge if you are worried about clenliness. just make sure the hand job is always followed by the sponge.

Great headline Nampeung... I was intrigued too :D

Does nobody apply it with a foundation brush......?:D I was taught if the foundation is a Mousse (like Shiseido one can be) then apply with a damp/dry sponge as Boo explains so well above :D If it is a liquid then, use a Foundation brush in order to apply evenly!

On the rare occasions that I do wear foundation, it's only for a special occasion/evening out/nice dinner out when I know I'm gonna be in Aircon literally door to door! :D Otherwise like others have mentioned, it just drips off !! VERY attractive! NOT! :o

On a day to day basis, more to prevent against pigmentation than enything else and stop it getting worse :D, I wear Clinique Super City block - tinted (oil-free daily face protector) everyday which is SPF40, then set with Benefit's 'Dr Feelgood' refiner (what a TOTALLY Miracle product!), with a hint of blusher.

All set to brave the sunshine and venture out into the Big Bad World :D

Great heading Nampeung.

Finally, you ladies how found how to get a man's attention :o

then set with Benefit's 'Dr Feelgood' refiner (what a TOTALLY Miracle product!), with a hint of blusher.

Dr Feelgood looks interesting. Can it be purchased in Bangkok?

Sure can Desi. :D

'Benefit' an American brand has FINALLY arrived in Bangkok!! Big thanks to Central Chitlom :D It is located opposite the elevators on the Ground floor of Central Chitlom.

I first bought it early last year when I had a makeover with them at one of their stand alone concessions in London - there if you spend 20 pounds on a makeover (you can choose your style - evening/daytime/focus on covering up/eyes/lips - all three etc :D. You also get LOTS of tips and they use LOTS of products etc), this 20 pounds is then reedeemable against any of their products. Wah hay! :D The girls there REALLY knew the products and do makeovers almost nonstop (worth doing it prior to a lunch etc :D).

I mentioned specifically that I live abroad in a V. hot and humid country so foundation is a complete 'no no' and facial sweating can be an issue too :o.The girl recommended Dr. Feelgood and so after she put it on me, I bought one. (At the time I wasn't 100% sure if I had been 'sold' and bought in to the 'hype' of an impulse purchase!).

However, I am now on my second pot (which I bought in the Benefit concession in Tangs Dept store in Singapore) prior to its arrival here in BKK. For me, it is a FAB product. :D

I quote from the back of the tub/pot...

"This invisible refiner, blended with Vitamin C helps to smooth away the appearance of fine lines while leaving skin feeling and looking more silky, flawless and matte to the touch. It is a colourless, weightless miracle worker."

"How to use: Pat and smooth over makeup with its accompanying sponge or simply wear it alone."

As mentioned, I put my Super City SPF40 on , then set with Benefit's 'Dr Feelgood' refiner. It comes with a sponge which can also be washed. The consistency of the product is not like a powder - it's almost like a wax but it doesn't leave your skin sticky.

If I remember correctly, Central Chitlom does not offer the makeup lesson which is then redeemeable against their products, you might however be able to ask them to test it??????? Not sure which/how sponge etc...unless you took your own? B) I think it is about 1,100bt or 1,200bt but it really does last you for ages (my first one lasted about 9 months and that was using it almost everyday!)

And no, I'm not on commission Ha Ha :burp: , just happy to share what I found (accidentally) to be a FAB product for the climate here! :D

Sure can Desi. :D

After your riproaring commendation of the product, I just have to try it! :D

Due to tropical 'glistening', lately I've avoided even facial cream. And I really would like to have something on my face during the day. Something protecting it, moistening it, whatever.

Thanks!

You're welcome! :D

You might also wanna check out 'Clinique Super City block' (oil-free daily face protector) SPF40. You can get tinted or untinted (Is untinted a word?) :D I find high factor sunblock can be TOO sticky (unless by the pool AAhhhhh :D), but this product is pretty good. Again, maybe Clinique will let you try first to seeif it suits you. (Although I've only ever bought it at Dutyfree).

Will do. Thanks! I've tried odd sunblock but my face doesn't often like it (I have oily to medium skin). This one just might do the trick.

I don't use foundation, and the last time I attempted to use a sponge I was about 17 and gave up. On the rare occasions when I do use make-up, I use a brush (for blush and mascara). For lotions and potions, I use my hands.

:o:D

Well I am trying to use my hands and it seems to be working quite well as the female mates are issuing compliments. I am also using a moisturiser and and skin enlightener - from Tesco for Barbara Daily - before applying the foundation. Okay so in the evening the foundation has to come off... it of a pain ... but someone taught me that baby wipes are the way to go and I follow that now xxx

Sorry guys it's nothing sleezy.

Yup, the title got me too. :o

But..... looking at the answer above, i really do think that a lot of woman do not NEED make up, or plastering their faces with layers of whatever it is.

What in heavens name gave women the idea that they are " naked" without it??

Did all ladies fall for the commercials??

What is wrong with the natural look??

:D
