Just wondering if anyone can speak to the quality/availability of care for a cat with an ongoing disease. We're not sure yet what we're dealing with, but cancer is a possibility...do the vets in Bangkok do surgeries/chemotherapy etc for that kind of thing? Can you get different kinds of medicines for cats easily in Bangkok? Right now we're in the process of starting B-12 injections and will likely need to continue those in Bangkok. Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated, we're moving in 12 days and are desperately running every test in the book to find out what is wrong with our 11 year old cat before we go. I'm very worried that even if we do discover what is wrong with him, the vets in Bangkok may not be able to provide the treatment we need! Help!

So far I have heard (have no experience myself as I live way up North), the veterinary Universities (Chula, Mahidol and Kasetsart) are quite advanced in their medical care and techniques.

I know that Sheryl (you can pm here) has personal experince with Chula.

Wish you good luck with your cat.

Thank you everyone for your replies.

We have contacted the pet hospital and asked them the following questions and wondering if anyone here has seen any of these in Bangkok as well.

Prednisone for cats

B-12 Injections

Purina Feline EN ( Gastroenteric ) cat food

Thanks for your help. These are the recommendations from our vet here in the States of things our cat will need in Bangkok and just wondering if we need to ship a year supply or if this stuff is available in Bangkok.

Thanks again for all your help!

prednisone for people is the same as for cats, dosage is different. we use tabs of 5 mg broken into pieces for cats depending on their weight and problem.

b vitamins same same

dont know if purina stuff in thailand but if not, i do know that the HILS has I/D canned food which is the equivlent for gastro problems in cats; there is also royal canine sensitive for cats (a dry medical food) and also sensible 33 (dry) which is for sensitive cats but still more like regular cat food. the sensitive is what cats get for intestinal problems (chronic) etc use.

years supply of food is never worth it. the stuff spoils too quickly..

hills i think is the science diet group... we cant get it in israel at the moment therefore are using the royal canine and i saw the ingredients listed in thai so know that it can be got in thailand...
