Does anyone know where the dog shelter is in Pattaya?

Or if someone is having to leave the country and unable to take their dog I would love to talk to you.

I have a new house with a big yard and would love to have a dog or two on the property that will be very well cared for!

good on you immortalinthailand!!!

there was a thread a while ago about two lovely dogs in krabi whose owner has to leave and desperately tried to find a new home for them. with pictures, if you can't find the thread here anymore, look in the krabi forum, it is easy to find there.

good luck!

Nothing better than a boxer, immortal! :o (risking to get all these golden lovers on my neck :D :D) And the other one looks also most adorable. Don't let you put down by the boxer's health problem. As Bina said in the other thread, on med's he can still live a comfortable life.

Go for it! :D

Thank you Bina and Nienke for the endorsements! :o

Immortal, I know you aren't looking to take on problems but really, Bruno is as lovely as they come and he is, for all appearances, a perfectly normal dog. You would never guess he was sick if you saw him. If his condition is managed, he could still go on to live for a reasonable time.

The other dog, Zippy, is really lovely too. He is a Thai dog that we adopted about 5 years ago and he is very gentle and a good guard dog. Bruno only looks fierce!

Give it some thought.

Aren't you the owner of the dogs I asked about you two days ago. We sent messages to each other a few days ago and you said that the boxer with the heart problems would not be up for the trip all the way to Pattaya. They do look like great dogs and both so cute, but a trip that far for a dog with a heart condition would probably kill him. By plane he would be unbearably stressed and by bus or car would take 2-3 days..... again a huge stress even on a healthy dog.

actually might be doable; for nala the boxer we gave her valium for when there were fire works on our indepanence day and it kept her low keyed. she didnt zonk out, but just seemed 'stoned'... it didnt seem to adversely affect her heart condition (and this was two months before we euthenized her so she wasnt in wonderful condition whichis why i even thought about the valium (in israel used a lot on dogs as many suffer trauma and panic attacks do to unfortunate circumstances so the fire works is a trigger, and we have lots all summer long during all the weddings (arabs shoot in the air and fire works at their weddings, and so do rich jewish couples)

driving doesnt seem to be a stress trigger but actual physical excercise/exertion...

do the dogs have to go together? separation and placement might be the next solution, goldenbead, as much as it seems horrible separating them, dogs are fairly resilient, and with good treatment, will get over the separation, espeically if there are other animals as diversion...

in the plane oxygen is very low and for a sick dog with valium or any other sleeping pill on top it is life threatening. for a short flight like inside thailand there is no need for sedatives.

Hi Immortal , did you find a dog yet , i have a great 5 month old English bulldog that i might be reluctantly looking for a new home for soon as we might be moving to a condo in the next few months , its a bit complicated but let me know as it would be good to know there would be somebody willing to take him if we do move . By the way is that your Vespa ? i seen one similar if not that one having a sidecar fiited to it in a scooter shop i use .

elfe, i thought he was talking about a car ride; and actually, with dogs, valium and its affects are dependant on the visual surroundings/stimulation for it to have a good affect on them... (i.e. need quiet, dark time period until it kicks in and works)... for dogs with heart problems a low dose keeps them calm therefore their ticker stays working with less stress....not talking about knocking him out with zoleteil (the anasthetic valium and something else mix ...)

but the vets do the deciding...
