I am off to the UK for a few days in AUGUST....fancy trying Business class with a budget of under 100k.

Most decent airlines are ruled out but have been offered EGYPT AIR (cheapest) and Kuwait Air (next)....are they any good?

Are there other budget business class worth considering on this route?

I have no experience of the airlines mentioned but I did fly Etihad to London via Dubai in Business Class last year and was seriously disappointed. The best deal, if you can keep your ear close to a tame travel agent to give you the early heads up, is Cathay via Hong Kong - they do have specials but news of them is rarely broadcast widely. Also, I flew Gulf Air from Bahrain to Bangkok two weeks ago in BC and, despite some very promising advertising to the contrary, was very disappointed.

Both are 'dry' airlines. Egyptair will allow you to bring your own & provide mixers - I've even had them chill beers for me. They're not the best airline, but if the price is right, they're acceptable.

If you do book with them, you ought to use the opportunity to spend a day or so in Cairo - their fares seldom have penalty fees for doing a stopover.

If you're not going alone, Thai are doing a 2 tickets for one price on first and business class at the moment.

Sounds like a good deal ..................until i found this on the net,

From today, June 25 until 30 September 2008, Thai Airways International will gives it’s Royal First and Royal Silk passengers a free second ticket. This special deal, appropriately named “Buy 1, Fly 2″ promotion is a steal for air travelers who are flying from Bangkok to all European cities, Beijing, Shanghai, Guang Zhou, Japan, Korea, Johannesburg, Auckland and Taipei.

Sounds too good to be true? You’re probably right.

Read what a forumer had to say when he decided to check it out:

Can someone please explain to me how this is a “promotion”?

I am heading off to Frankfurt in Germany (Im Danish though) with my girlfriend next month. I just read about this today, and was thinking “wow, that’s a good deal, maybe I can buy 1 business for the same price as my 2 ecocomy tickets, and fly on business!)

So - I started checking up with agents and also directly with Thai Airways.

Now, here’s the kicker;

Normal price for a business ticket to Frankfurt (todays price): 93,500 baht

The price for a business ticket if you use this offer; 187,000 baht.

Do the math, and you get that the price is EXACTLY double! The agents are restricted to use the list price of Thai Airways, and do not get specielt agent prices on these tickets.

So - You pay double the price, and get 1 free ticket. Where the hel_l is the discount then? …

Is your budget for one-way or round-trip? If r/t how long is your stay? (Some airlines have minimum stay requirements for lower-priced fares, in Y/C/F.)

I couldn't see anything published and available (open seat) under 100k THB in August. Turkish has a fare at 109,210 all in. Fuel surcharges (YQ) on this route vary from $180 to $425 (r/t).

I'd say most low-priced business class fares are gone for August.
