WELL KNOWN PATTAYA BUSINESSMAN GUNNED DOWN IN HIS OFFICE

A well known Thai businessman who owned a Pattaya company dealing in non-governmental loans and many other concerns was brutally murdered at his office, on July 22nd, 2008, in just 7 seconds. He was head shot by three .9mm bullets and died instantly.

Police suspect there are many serious motives behind the killing, such as: running an open gambling emporium, non-government loans, and football gambling, but consider drug dealing to be the most likely.

At 4 PM, on July 22, Pol.Lt.Col. Polagrit Kumsatien, Pattaya Investigator, was notified of the murder of Mr. Nirut Eamsakul aka Sia Rut Niran ,(40), from Chantaburi province. The incident happened in front of Building C, at Niran Grand Villa Condo, Soi Arunothai, Central Pattaya. A police team led by Pol.Col. Pairat Supasawas, Chonburi Deputy Commander, accompanied by a doctor from Banglamung Hospital and Sawang Boriboon Rescue accordingly rushed to the scene.

In front of the incident, an office going under the name of "Kunaparp" dealing with a variety of businesses, located at No. 519/38 in the condo, police found over a hundred spectators, eager to know what was going on. Police found the body of Mr. Nirut Eamsakul, the owner of the office, lying face down, dead with the upper part of his body on a sofa. He was wearing a grey, round-neck T-shirt, jeans and sneakers. He had apparently been shot three times, the bullets entering the right side his forehead, and penetrating to the back of his neck. Police found three .9mm cartridges, and 2 other spent bullets on the floor, and kept them as evidence.

Mr. Oat (25), the right-hand man of the deceased, who was near the incident when it had occurred, told police that Mr. Nirut had been shot dead while he was on his mobile phone, standing in the front part of the office and was about to go out to do some errands. Two chubby suspects had apparently drawn up on a blue and white Yamaha Fino, in front of the office. The pillion rider then dismounted, rushed up to Mr. Nirut and shot him 3 or 4 times. Mr. Nirut died instantly, his body collapsing on the sofa and. The incident had taken only 7 seconds and the suspects escaped immediately on their motorbike.

Miss Suthirat Maakpha, (42), Mr. Nirut's the older sister, told police in tears that she had no idea why her brother had been killed. She had also been sitting in the office when the incident occurred and had witnessed everything.

Earlier in the evening of July 21, apparently, a man and a woman had arrived in a blue Mitsubishi pickup truck and a motorbike to ask for Mr. Nirut. Both of them had looked very suspicious, according to witnesses.

Pol.Col.Nopadol Wongnom, Pattaya superintendent, announced at a subsequent press briefing that police were conducting investigations into the background of the deceased and had so far found out that Mr.Nirut was notorious in Pattaya, where he been known as "Sia Rut Niran Grand". He had been running many illegal businesses, including non-governmental loans, football and other gambling concerns. Recently, due to cash flow problems, he had apparently become involved in Yah Ice (Methamphetamine). He had no permanent residence and often travelled between Pattaya and Chantaburi.

Pol.Col.Pairat Suphasawas, Deputy Commander of Chonburi Province, said it was an awful case of blatant, brutal aggression. Police will conduct a full investigation of the incident. Although police had considered a dispute over gambling or loans to be reasonable motives for the murder, they thought a conflict over drugs, was the most likely reason for Mr. Nirut's death. However, the suspects had been captured on CCTV footage and there is currently a hunt in process to bring them to justice.

So they are going to conduct a full investigation into this 'blatant, brutal aggression', but were unable to investigate his illegal activities before?

That Nirun complex (and the Arunothai area in general) is a cesspool of crime and criminality. Real Thai and farang low-lifes seem to enjoy each other's company down that soi. Funny, as it's just down from Carrefore. Yeah, really funny how an apparently know owner and operator of multiple illegal businesses is allowed to carry on until he is gunned down.

However, just a Thai and Thai business negotiation that went tits-up. Nothing for any farangs to be worried about...unless they had some football bets that were winners that had not been paid out yet.

I know nothing of this guy so my comments based on what has been reported, but if true then the police were a aware of his illegal activities and did little to rid him or other such criminals out of Pattaya, little wonder there are so many crime related shootings in Pattaya.

Aware of, and actually having solid evidence to bring one to justice in a court is not the same. I am sure others here would have differing opinions, and should be just around the corner.

A murder is still a murder. Hope the coppers gets their murderer/s.

Police Have Plenty of Reasons as to Why Local Businessman Murdered.

Pattaya Police are shocked by the brazen nature of the shooting murder yesterday of a 40-year-old Thai businessman at the popular Niran Grand Condo complex in Soi Arunothai, central Pattaya.

The man was shot three times in broad daylight in front of his shop by a man who was the pillion passenger on a motorbike. Pattaya police commander Colonel Nopadon told local journalists his officers are working as fast as possible to solve the case and bring the killers to justice.

Colonel Nopadon said the victim, Khun Nirut, was involved in a number of illegal activities and had been arrested on a couple of occasions in 2006 and charged with possession of a gun and selling the class 1 drug yah ice. At the time of the murder these cases were still to be heard in court, but Colonel Nopadon noted the man’s death means there will be no further court action.

Illegal activities engaged in by the victim included money lending, gambling, drug dealing, adultery, and possible jaywalking.

Relatives, business associates of Khun Nirut, and witnesses were questioned late into the night about the murder. All CCTV cameras in the area were checked, and a couple were found to be working. Police obtained a good picture of the gunman. In addition, a person in a black Toyota Vios car, with Bangkok numberplates, was seen pointing out the victim and escorting the killer's motorbike.

After watching the murder it drove away at speed. Although the number plate on the bike was taken it proved to be fake.

At this stage police are not prepared to reveal details about the potential various motives for the killing but are hopeful the case will be solved within the next few days.

POLICE IDENTIFY 5 MAJOR MOTIVES IN MURDER OF PATTAYA BUSINESSMAN

Pattaya Police are pulling out all the stops to solve the murder mystery surrounding the gunning down Mr.Nirut Eamsakuk aka Sia Rut Nirun (40), a well-known Pattaya businessman, with known connections to the underworld. Police, apparently, have identified 5 major motives for the killing, but these have not yet been revealed to avoid jeopardising the case.

Mr.Nirut, from Chantaburi province, was head shot by three .9mm bullets and died instantly, yesterday, July 23, in front of his office "Kunaparp", located at 519/38, in Niran Grand Villa Condo, Soi Arunothai, Central Pattaya. It is known that the victim was running several illegal businesses, including non-governmental loans and was also involved in drug pushing.

As of yesterday afternoon, July 23, Pol.Col.Nopadol Wongnom, Pattaya Superintendent, announced that the case had been handed over to Pol.Lt.Col.Chartchai Ruen-thawin, Deputy Superintendent. The relatives, the"lieutenant "of the deceased and witnesses were questioned late into the night. What progress there has been relates to the motives for the murder and the appearance of the suspects.

As regards the two suspects, police investigators checked all the CCTVs in the area of the condo and managed to get a positive identification from the camera installed in front of building B, about 50 metres away from the incident. This camera had clearly detected the face of the gunman who left the pillion seat of the motorbike to shoot the victim. In addition, the camera had also detected a black Toyoto Vios car, which apparently came to point out the victim, escort the murderer's motorbike and observe the killing, after which it drove away at speed. The last two numbers of the Vios' license plate were 33; a Bangkok plate.

A witness confirmed that the motorbike driver suspect, who was wearing a helmet, had a chubby appearance and was about 170 – 175 cms. in height. The gunman, however, did not wear a helmet. Both of them were wearing black and using a blue and white Yamaha Fino motorbike, licence 249, Chonburi. Police checked the licence number and found out that it was a fake.

Pol.Col.Nopadol Wongnom added that the deceased had had a criminal record, having been arrested by Pattaya police, for the possession of a gun and Yah Ice (Methamphetamine) in the period July – November 2006. Both cases are still going through the courts, but will now be dropped as he has been murdered. Police revealed the fact that there were 5 major motives for the killing, such as Illegal business dealings, non-governmental loans, gambling, drugs and adultery. However, police are not prepared to reveal the details in order to prevent the case being compromised. Pol.Col.Nopadol is hopeful that the case will be solved within the next few days.

Nirun Condo Complex has a double gate leading to Soi Arunathai, with usually 3 "security guards"there. The gates are very seldom open unless cars or bikes are going through and cards issued and retrieved.

Soi Arunathai is very narrow and busy and school traffic is heavy.

3 shots go off and the gate magically opens????? Call me a cynic but-----

I too know not too much about this case except what I read.

Maybe the Police really did do something to rid the city of this person! They could not get him legally so they figured out another way to prosecute him?
