Trevor
http://www.pricegrabber.ca/rating_getprodr..._type=masterid/ Hawking Tech. Hi-Gain USB Wireless-G Dish Adapter HWU8DD. This is a great little laptop accessory for pulling-in weak wi-fi signals. Works with my 2006 Toshiba laptop (xp) fine, and also worked with an older 2004 model before the hard drive failed. The latter has no built-in antenna. Problem is, now the HD has been replaced on the older Toshiba, and most of the old software re-installed, the Hawking continually drops the signal and the only way to get it going -- for another 2 or 3 minutes' use -- is to re-boot the computer or re-install the Hawking driver. Does it with all wi-fi sources; will not re-scan for signals or lock on without re-booting. Very strange. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Solved original problem by re-installing operating system.
