Several of my customers, who have no affiliation with the makers or the sellers of the device, swear by the effectiveness of those devices.

Apparently up to 25% can be shaven off your bill, with as a side effect that a lot of electrical devices will last longer, especially light bulbs.

Now I have big place, with monthly electric bills of over 30,000 Baht, and several hundred light bulbs all over the place. If only the light bulbs stop burning out every other week I already would be very happy!

So, does anybody have one of those devices and do they indeed work?

Do a search. There was another topic regarding these energy savers not so long ago somewhere on this forum.Someoene explained the working of these devices and no they didn't save any electric.

Generally I believe any device of this nature to be Snake Oil, I've seen no scientific evidence that these beasts actually do anything useful.

The FAQ on this site (for the Uk version of the device) http://www.energyenv.co.uk/PowerSaver.asp contains the following statement:-

Power Saver helps improve the environment by minimising the amount of reactive power which otherwise is wasted in distribution networks, cables and your appliances in the form of heat.

Suggesting that it performs power-factor correction.

Now PF correction can, in the case of highly inductive loads, actually have a measurable effect, but sure as heII nothing like the claimed 10-20%, and it has to be tailored to the load being corrected in order to prevent over correction which is just as bad as no correction.

I suspect that the box contains a simple capacitor, which will cost a lot less than the 42 quid the UK device goes for.

I would love to be corrected on this, as although my bill is nothing like yours I'd love it to be smaller :o

30,000 baht :D and to think I get twitchy when my bill gets over 1200 :o I can understand why you would be interested in such a device.

Have you installed energy saving globes? They really make a difference and in 5 years I've yet to replace one, they just go on and on. If you wanted to buy 100+ then I'm sure you could get a good deal, even if you only replaced those that get the most use.
