Hi

I have been using my Aussie laptop in Thailand without a transformer or converter. Just plug it in. The voltage in Australia is 240V and Thai is 220V.

is this safe to do, or will it be harmful to the computer?

Thanks

It will be OK except your programs will run about 10% slower.

No problem whatever :o

Your laptop likely has a 'universal' power supply anyway.

Check the label it will state the operating voltage, universal units will say something like 100-240V AC input.

And, since you are now in the Northern Hemisphere the image on the LCD will be upside down :o
