A good stat might be, how many olympic participants, or perhaps how many entries into competitions per country.

Here we come :o

You had better hurry because with a total of '2' it looks as though Thailand will soon pass you... :D

Guilty of a cross-post however, why not offer congratulations to Thailand's first Gold of this Olympiad won by Prapawadee Jaroenrattanatarakoon in the Woman's Weightlifting -53kg division.

Regards

Latest medal count update as of 8/10/08 11:25 PM BBK time.

A_Traveller,

I did express my congratulations to Prapawadee Jaroenrattanatarakoon and Thailand on their first gold of the 2008 Olympics in a thread that was started just on that topic. I am hoping to keep this topic going by posting the medal counts. :o

question; how do they determine who gets to play football in the tournament. ireland &england not there. why?

anybody know?

Don't know about Ireland, but England, Wales, Scotland and N. Ireland don't take part as they would have to field an all-British team. One fear is that this could be seen as such a good idea that FIFA might suggest a combined team in all competitions. Basically though, I think it's the various FAs being able to agree to how to manage a British team.

o-O I didn't know there were another Korean fellows in this Forum. :D An-nyong-ha-se-yo?

Yeah, I am rooting for Korea, too.

16 medals so far. Not bad for a tiny country. Yay!

Taekwondo starts next week and I am hoping they can add some more medals.

Go Dae han min gook!

Never have paid much attention to "medal counts" because I feel the Olympics should be a celebration of individual athletic achievement (at least in non-team sports). So this nationalistic fervor we see every four years for the Olympics just sickens me.

5 AND 6!!

Korea, we slowly coming close to you...

Farang Prince, don't be sick, it's just for fun.

As a Canuck, all I can just say is that we must be saving ourselves for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Canada...I hope :o
