Hi,

I live in Rama 3 and I am looking for a Honda dealer that would have a good selection of accessories and selection of new bikes. I am looking to buy a new bike this but am having a hard time finding a big dealer where I could go in, look at a selection of bikes and decide one way or another what I want, pay and drive away with a new bike. If someone can suggest this type of dealer in Bangkok, please let me know.

Thanks,

Nhscotsman

I have been searching the internet and forums for some time, looking for comprehensive lower cc motorcycle shops where I could compare and evaluate ranges of motorcycles before buying one. I noted that there were also others on ThaiVisa who were also asking the same question, but none had received any real answers. Where can I buy a motorcycle? Where are the secret motorcycle dealers in this vast metropolis of Bangkok? Not so much thinking about the corner shop mom & pop type stores that have the same few models that we see everywhere, but where are the real reputable shops representing full ranges of motorcycles, with the more farang friendly English speaking salespeople, plus info about accessories? What a puzzle that was! But, after much leg work and intuition, I have at last found showrooms that represent two of the major motorcycle dealers in Bangkok - Yahama and Honda! And I'd thought I'd share them here.

1) Going north from Mo-chit, BTS, up Pahonyothin Road, after Ladprao Plaza, near soi 29, almost level with the Elephant Building, on the left hand side of Pahonyothin, is a sizable Yamaha dealer with at least 30 bikes in and out of the glass windowed shop. Helpful friendly staff. English...um...difficult. Good range of bikes. Nouvo Elegance 135 55,000 - 57,000 baht - depending if you want spokes or radials. Some accessories available like helmets & gloves, but no boxes. Closed on Sundays. Tel: 02-9303811 - 15

2) Continuing up Pahonyothin just after Soi 33, on the left again, I discovered an illusive Honda motorcycle dealer that had all of the lower cc models in different colours, including 4 PCXs in three colours (including a red), but also two 250s, but no Phantoms. The friendly salesman (Pichai) spoke English that was limited, but sufficient. There was a catalogue to order boxes & stripes, and there were helmets & jackets on shelves. What more could you ask for? Umm....lower prices maybe? Honda PCXs were going for 78,000 baht (includes registration plates + one year insurance). That was sort of higher than I had expected for only a 125. Tel: 02-5112691, 02-5135039

3) Going south, down Pahonyothin, to the BTS station at Saphan Kwai, right under the station, I found two cramped accessories shops selling all the things you need (perhaps). The larger of the two, Saeng Sawad, had a really good variety of boxes (brands & sizes) and the most popular Index & Nippon helmets, as well as black saddle bags and lots and lots of other stuff. Also, under the station was another Honda motorcycle shop, but the range seemed more limited than the shop to the north.

I hope this info is useful to others, as it would have been to me about a month ago.

The Honda dealer under the Sapan Kwai station is a long establish Chinese dealership. Also an excellent place for original parts; the son I believe has had excellent education and speaks very good English (he looks like he went to a school where they teach everything in English). I have also had bikes repaired there too; they have a large workshop at the back, with ducting to suck out exhaust fumes (eg from 2 strokers). Highly recommended and easy to get it. They also had two cbr250s when they first came out (the non and abs ones; the non abs went quickly). They can also help out with copy parts (eg if the Honda one is very expensive or unobtainable); mind you they are not the cheapest in this regard since I can get their copy parts much cheaper. However their original parts prices are competitive. This dealer caters for Thais; eg lots of smaller bikes. You might ask them to quote you on a Phantom?

The Yamaha dealer up Pahonyathin you mention is one of the Yamaha Square shops; I think these are either official dealers or businesses that are tier one dealers.

There is also Sumet Cycle who is a sponsor on this forum. They are on Chang Wattana; a bit further out but you can get there by taxi or bike.

Honda does not make the Phantom anymore. We do get second hand ones from time to time, but we have not got any at the moment. However, you are more than welcome to come by and check out our other bikes. I work out of our Honda dealership. We also have dealerships that sell Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Vespa nearby. We also offer financing if you are interested. Here is our location: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=13.855462,100.544708&num=1&sll=13.878174,100.550232&sspn=0.006295,0.006295&ie=UTF8&ll=13.855351,100.547132&spn=0.005854,0.021973&z=16

I can be reached at 081-919-8570 (Brian)

Wow, just realized how old the OP was. Forget the the bit about the Phantom I guess. However, if anyone is looking for a farang friendly dealer in the Bangkok area, then Sumet Cycle is the place from you.
