I have a 1 year non B due to expire very soon, in the past I have got another 90 days by doing a visa run prior to the expirey date. Recently I have heard of people only getting a stamp valid untill the visa expires.

Can anyone clarify the situation for me as time is running out?

I haven’t seen any member post anything to that effect. A multiple-entry non-immigrant visa of any type can be used for entry into Thailand until the day before the “this visa must be utilised” date stamped on the visa and even on this last day you will get a 90-day permission to stay with your multiple-entry non-B visa.

I need some clarification here. I have a non-immi B visa which expires on 31 Aug. I want to continue my stay in the country on a tourist visa. Do i need to conduct a 'visa run' and leave the country to apply for a visa-on-arrival? I'm really new to this so I can use all the help I can get.

dudewheresmySCAR, for a tourist visa you go to a Thai embassy or consulate in a neighbouring country and apply for the visa. On your return to Thailand with this visa you will receive permission to stay for 60 days and this can be extended at an immigration office by 30 days.

Alternatively, if you want to stay only for a short additional period, depending on your nationality you can enter without visa and receive permission to stay for 30 days or you can get a visa on arrival and receive permission to stay for 15 days.

Thanks Maestro. I'm an Indian and the website says that Indians get visa-on-arrival, but it won't make much sense if it's just for 15 days. How many days does it take for getting a tourist visa from an embassy or a consulate? Any suggestions on which country to go to for a visa run?

With an Indian passport you will get only a 30-day permission to stay when you enter with a tourist visa and this can be extended in Thailand by 30 days.

See this list issued by the immigration bureau:

For the extension of stay, see paragraph 7.3 of Royal Thai Police Order No. 606/2549:
