American held for sex leaflets

The Nation

17. November 2004

Police yesterday detained an American for questioning over suspected

soliciting for commercial sexual services from young girls. The

35-year old man has been remanded at Hang Dong police station. He was

apprehended after several parents complained that a suspicious

foreigner was distributing leaflets to young students, case officer

Lt-Colonel Thanadol Noysuwan said.

The leaflets, distributed near major schools for girls in Chiang Mai

city, gave a telephone number and said a foreigner wanted to befriend

girls aged betwen 15 and 18, Thanadol said.

After police asked a woman to call the number and make an appointment,

the American man showed up, he said.

The suspect denied responsibility for the leaflets, saying an

unidentified friend had offered to help him find a Thai girlfriend, he

added.

Police have not filed any charges.

Hang this MF

Hang this MF

By his b*ll*cks!!

I just can't understand how some people think?! Did he not think that someone might get a tad suspicious??

Maybe he was one of those idiots who think every Thai female is for sale and thoght this would be the way in at the ground floor.

Doesn't say HE was distributing.

Still doesn't say he was doing it, perhaps he's a genuine naive.

Until they do perhaps a little less of hang the MF wouldn't go amiss. Anyone here been fitted up? Not saying he's not dodgy but I wouldn't hang him until I was certain.

In no way condoning his choice of age, but thought the age of consent in Thailand is 15. So why exactly should he be hung? What exactly did he do to warrant this hanging?

Legality aside, imagine the same situation in the U.S., for example- older Japanese man lurking around schools putting up leaflets advertising for 18 year old girls to call him. Illegal? No. Dodgy and undesirable? Most likely yes. Parents would be both wise and justified in keeping an eye on him and alerting the authorities. Remember, not everything that is legal is desirable.

What the ###### was he thinking?

Was this his method of finding a gf in the US? If it was then I'm surprised hes still drawing breath. If he was that dumb (Naive is too soft a word in this case) to have been advised that this was the way to go, then maybe he shouldn't be on the streets anyway.................

Personally don't buy the story, and think the guy is a predator, but he is a predator within the law.

If people don't like it, then they should work to change the law. :o

This is F'-ing Thailand, you morons!

I wonder what they do in Hang Dong police station - quite an appropriate name! :o

That's the ticket!

Good answer. Made me read the article again. Just where was the law broken (no expert, me)?

Yeah lets round up a posse of witch hunters and when we have strung him up we can go beat up some peadiatricians, the perverts.

It is an example, don't get your knickers in a twist, and anyway if he wants to shag 18 year olds, asks nicely and one of them agrees what is the problem, girls have been going out with older men since time immamorium. By the way I am thirty, goodlooking solvent, don't have a thai girlfriend, so don't jump to any wrong assumtions.

Anyone willing to introduce me to their daughter? :o

HANG DONG :D YOUR HEAD :D TOM DOOLEY :D

It wouldn't surprise me if someone was setup by another farang. I remember something very similar a few years ago in CM. I can think of two people offhand who DO go around posting crap about each other on supermarket boards now.... This wouldn't be beneath either one of them. Bet there are more folks similarly inclined, too..
