About a month ago, a bus swerved violently, trying to run us off the road from the 4th left lane as we were not going fast enough for him (100 on bypass road in heavy traffic) in the 3rd lane ON THE LEFT where trucks and buses are not allowed.

yESTERDAY, wife, baby and I coming back from shopping. We were on a two way going one way, slow lane is full of m 'ycles and song taews pulling over , rush hour, this prick in a pick-up truck pulls up behind me in the left lane and gets all angry and jumpy because I`m slowing him down, obviously too f*&56 dumb to see the bus and other cars in front of me causing the slow down (we re still doing 60kph), he pulls out next to me and cuts right back in early on purpose, pulls off our front bumper in the process and scratches the front fender. There`s no way he ''did not notice'', it was clearly intentional. He takes off like a rocket. I speed up, I know there s a good chance he`ll get stuck over the hill at the traffic light where I can catch up with this assh*le and let him know what I think of road viruses. By chance. he s in front of me but not held up at the traffic light, I come in with the horn blaring but he dives in the onto ramp to bypass road. I follow him close and was side by side with him instantly. He dives back in to me on purpose. No more, this is a nutter and the wife and baby dion`t need this sh!t. I let him get away.

May he die a horrible death in that truck of his.

Tony,

Firstly it is good to hear that you or your family were ok,property damage is easy to fix.

IMO This incident may have been intentional.

I am sure a lot of (possibly influential) thai people have monitored your posts before.

The old saying...fools rush in where angels fear to tread rings a bell,

I sympathize with your plight, but can hardly condone your actions. You recognized a potential problem and instead of doing everything you could to avoid it, you acted so as to only aggravate it. Slow down, pull over, and let the maniac <deleted> with the next guy in the queue. What is the need, purpose or benefit for you to be the one to get confrontational?

I know there s a good chance he`ll get stuck over the hill at the traffic light where I can catch up with this assh*le and let him know what I think of road viruses.

And then what .....??

He comes after you with a machete?

He pulls out a guns and pops off a few caps in your general direction?

All kidding aside, from your recent posts, it appears that you are clearly overstressed and cracking with your life in Thailand. You need to find some way to relieve your stress until you can plan your exit from the country. I fear for your safety.

I agree with the above. It's too easy when you are driving daily to get aggressive on the road and not see how ridiculous it is. My blood pressure surely dropped a good bit upon selling my car back home. Just stop driving for a while, if you can, and you will soon see how pointless and dangerous getting confrontational with crazy drivers is... ESPECIALLY with your wife and BABY in the car!

I've found a half hour to an hour of exercise a few days each week can greatly help to reduce your stress, which will give you a much clearer head when you find yourself in situations such at that.

There is no more a catalyst for road rage then a perceived notion someone is deliberately driving slow to impede them or hindering them from passing.

If someone is on your bumper, driving erratically and obviously agitated, let them by, even if you have to pull off the road.

Everyone feels their time / life is more important and everyone should yield to them in what ever manner and that in general everyone else on the road except for them is a inconsiderate, incompetent driving a-hole. Just human nature.

Taking pursuit indicates your in a state of rage also, a tipping point can't be far off, if this were LA you could easily be sprayed with bullets or other.

Being alone in your car where consequences will only affect you is one thing, impacting mother and baby is another,

Take a deep breath and chill, getting to your destination in one piece is all that matters. :o

There was no slowing down there, I m trapped in heavy traffic.

I had stopped driving, for the 2nd time I had handed my driving license to my wife.

With a child now, it's not always possible for my wife to drive.

With a child on board now, it makes me even angrier when some idiot behaves like this.

We now know we are leaving in a month and I told my wife I m staying home until then, no more shopping trips.

If another incident like this happens, the idiot will probably endup paying for all the previous ones, machette or not.

The fact that we are totally helpless , no police presence on the roads and won't do a thing about it today or tomorrow makes me even angrier. How can people take this sh!t over and over?

Thailand is nothing but a dangerous lawless cowboy country.

I can't believe you put your family's life in danger like that. Well, other drivers did at first but then it was all on you. Anger is understandable but your actions are not. Good thing you're getting out of Thailand as I think you are really hitting a boiling point being there.

Don't place you or your family in danger just get even:-

If you get the opportunity attract his attention, point at him, clench your fist and do the wanking motion. Hopefully he has passengers who will see this and HE looses face big time. I have been told bus drivers really hate it.

This has happened to me many times. One time a car swerved in front of me, making me swerve and dented a car on the other lane. I parked to settle damages with the other car. The person that swerved in front of me drove by, looked at me, made a nervous WAI and drove off. I was more than fuming!!! :o

Now, I get first class insurance. It has helped me control my rage at these morons.

After looking at your posting history, I would say it is time for you to leave.

You've obviously spent your 8 days well, researching Tony's four thousand four hundred odd posts to come up with that startling conclusion.

Tony, I know where you are coming from as I've been through it myself. Every day you get these jumped up little jerks who think that you must get out of their way. There's no magic cure all solution, the only thing is to remain focussed on your future and that of your family. I don't go with the move over and let them through notion, if you did that all through life you may as well go stand in the corner with your trousers down holding a pot of vaseline. However you do need to keep sight of your priorities.

Noting down the number plate is a total waste of time and effort. What are you going to do with it? The police will take absolutely no action at all.

Phil if you're claiming insurance it help to have their plate number.

But if you are claiming against their insurance, supposing they have any, you need more than their plate number. Unless they have a matching dint in their vehicle together with some of your paint they will just deny they were ever on that road that day and will provide witnesses to back them up.

Let’s look into this a bit more.

By chasing the vehicle you’re allowing yourself to be dragged into a situation where things can only escalate. You don’t know who the guy is or what he will do if he feels threatened. You just need to look at some of the posts on the forum where members claim they’ve been forced off the road, been beaten up or shot at.

Forget all the macho stuff, stay calm and think safety for yourself and family. Keep yourself in the safe zone.

TONY,

Most people have a mobile phone with a camera/video recoder. If you havent may i suggest you get one. After driving here for 5 years i do not have any road rage, other than expressing my disgust with a few chosen words to myself but quite loud lol.Seen enough road rage in the uk to be in control so i i am not looking for confrontation here.

Sometimes i do feel angry at some of the crazy idiotic thais but it onlt takes 2 seconds to move and only 2 seconds for a fight, which do you want. You choose to come to a country that doesnt look after farangs so your decision to accept or go somewhere else.

I will save my anger for a farang who wants a fight then i know i wont get in trouble for that.

yeah, I had some tw @t driving up my arse last week, about 50cm behind me while we were in traffic doing around 80. I tapped the brakes just enough to make the lights come on and he of course slams his brakes on and skidds all over the show. two minutes later he was back up my bum again. what can you do? i just pulled over and let him through, problem solved for me anyway, some other lucky guy had him driving up his bum in front of me. :o:D some people do not give a cr@ p and they do not know any better, you would think common sense would kick in, but some people dont even have that.

So your driving outside lane at 60kph and the inside lane you say is full of slow moving objects when you see this truck pull up behind in the rear mirrors ,then you see him get agitated in the mirrors still doing 60kph then he pulls alongside of you at 60kph(but you don't say right or left),so you have vision ahead to see any obsticles left lane or oncoming that might cause him to pull in sharply and you are still doing 60kph and he passes to a point that when he does hits your front bumper and wing(fender) and you say he cut back in on purpose why didn't you use the BRAKE pedal, the distance from the front of his bonnet(hood)to his rear quarter wing(fender)is about 4.5 mtr, unless you didn't see him but you had in your mirrors with enough time to assess he was angry?

I think you have taken living in Thailand too far and addopted the Thai driving style of not being able to see what could/can/is happening around you, also your spherical vision may need checking.

I have been in similar situations, although rarely, on Thailand’s roads. In these cases I just pull over and let them pass.

The OP provokes easy and decided to play stock car racing with it’s wife and baby on board. Must of been terrifying for it’s family, innocents who had no control of the situation. But it didn’t give that a thought, getting one up on the driver of the other vehicle was first priority with the OP.

This is the actions of a maniac and cannot be justified under any circumstances.

Absolutely ludicrous and totally irresponsible.

I assume this was in BKK? This kind of incident is not unique to Thailand. Get out of BKK, if you have a choice. If you live there get somewhere where you don't have to drive a car. I would not dream of trying to drive in BKK, Mexico City, Rome, Calcutta, etc, etc.

And you know this so why live risky? Thais will kill you at the drop of a hat for simply (perceiving) that you embarassed them, you should know by now to live accordingly. Swallowing your pride means survival here. Ya ya a bunch of you will get all angry I said this. Seen anyone get cut up with a machete over some domestic dispute? Beaten in the head to death over an argument by several men? Well I and my friends have and much more. Live accordingly.

Khun Phil where to you get your 8 days from, I have been reading TV for as long as I can remember.

As for you friend Khun Tony I would say he is a very balanced person, he has a chip on both shoulders.

I note that you have done the decent thing and left.

It could as easily have been a Farang in a Fortuner tailgating you.

I would never venture much into Bkk in my motor, Chonburi is bad enough, Bangkok is hel_l.

Up in Isaan it's not bad at all.

Bad driving is commonplace in nearly all countries, you just notice it more in Thailand cos you feel that everyone is out to get you, Tony, you'll be OK once you get back to those sane polite drivers in UK.

Chon Buri is SCARY

98% of the roads are being worked on. Zero painted lines. The cowboys in their pickups drive any & everywhere in any direction - at night with lights off (to save electric) I guess.

Traffic lights - OPTIONAL.

I'm driving in the outside lane at 60 like everyone else in front of me because the inside lane is packed with mcycles and songtaews doinf betweem 0kph to 30, at rush hour. This is not a highway. How the f&^% do you use the brake pedal when the guy intentionally swerves into you without warning?

You're reconstructing a scene you haven't witnessed.

I don't drive like Thais, I'd have been shot a long time ago.

It's the same all over the country.

Look at the yearly Songkran statistics.
