Need a bit of Thai Visa help here = I have decided to change job and i have a non imm B, work permit and teachers license. These all are valid until April 2009, how do i go about changing them or transfering them to my new place of work?? My current boss has been very understanding and will assist me in anyway possible.

Any information would be great.

Cheers :o:D

Not sure if still valid under new work permit regulations but it required adding your new school to work permit and then removing the old school.

Thanks lopburi3,

I think the work permit will be simple, just add the new school and take off the old schools. What about the visa?? and the teachers license?? are these connected to the school or are they connected to the person (me) ??

Cheers

Do you have a one year multiple entry non-immigrant B Visa (obtained abroad - border runs every 90 days) or an Extension of Permission to Stay (obtained in Thailand - 90 day address reporting at immigration)?

There's a big difference as to what you have to do on a job change.

I presume that as a teacher you are on an Extension of Permission based on Section 7.5/7.6 of National Police Order 606/2549. The problem is that the day your work permit is cancelled, your Extension of Permission expires. You can apply for a seven day extension to try and get things sorted out, but here's the catch; you need to apply for a new extension and you have to produce the work permit for the new job, along with all the other required documents. This can be tricky to do in a week.

Your best bet is to try and get your new employer on the Work Permit first (using the change form WP7); this application must be signed/supported by your existing employer. You can then cancel your old employer and bingo you still have a Work Permit for your new extension of stay.

If your new employer does not meet the criteria for extension , then you must go abroad with the correct papers and apply for a new non-immigrant B visa (you can still get a one year multiple entry non B in KL - if you have the right markings in your work permit)

digitalchromakey,

Cheers for the help, looks easy now!! My current employer has agreed to sign the papers and the new employer is all up to date with her paper work. Good, that saves me a trip to Malaysia :o
