Hi all

We brought a Toyota Yaris a year ago and now the insurance is up. It was free for the first year. The Mrs tells me it is 17,000. Does that sound right to you? Im not saying it dosent sound right.... just want to check, thats all. For all I know it could be 12,000 and someone is stitching me up with a nice little 5,000 drink for themselves.

Cheers

Hi Stan

That does sound a bit steep to me. I would have thought your figure of 12k is nearer the mark. Get a few quotes, as you would do 'at home'

Thanks guys. Thats what I was thinking.... its only a Yaris. 17 sounded a little steep.

It is failry good insurance though. We had a small dent in the front spoiler and the insurance covered it with no excess. Also we had a cracked windscreen from a flying stone and they covered that also.... with no excess. I was suprised. You would never get that in England.

If indeed your current insurance carries no excess fees the price might be right.

You have several options on first class insurance which dictate the price.

Possibilities are:

*No excess, 5000, 10000 Baht excess. The higher excess fees would lower the premium substantially!

*Replacement value, or fixed value on total loss, will also influence price.

*Named driver(s), will also lower the premium, but not very handy, i.e. ONLY you or your wife can drive the car, anybody else would be uninsured!

*Repair garage of YOUR choice, will increase the premium.

As mentioned above, go get some quotes, as detailed as possible with all options!
