Beer Bars Now Require Public Liability Insurance

Featured Replies

Show me a beer bar over 200sqm ?

20m x 10m ????

Can't think of one, not that you'd call a "beer bar".

The only scenario I can think of is complexes but as they require the individual bars in the complex to have a licence these days then they can't decide that it is all one bar again.

This has nothing at all to do with insurance and everything to do with permissions, those silly cameras ($$$$) and that "engineering" letter (read $$$$) and possibly some roundabout way of trying to collect taxes.

The insurance requirement is purely another line thought up by City Hall (or more likely the "enforcer") who will be at least partially on the receiving end of any fines (notice none mentioned) doled out by the BiB or some quasi (il)legal organisation aka the music license people.

I for one would appreciate that when I sit on a chair and it collapses and I get a broken pelvis and instead of paying for it myself, having the insurance company pay for it. This would never happen at home as they are required to have insurance.

As the license renewal is for all entertainment venues, this also covers Go Go bars, which a lot are over that size.

The problem with the Music License is how they are enforced, operators should have one from RKT and One Stop to avoid issues with the BIB.

Agreed but the post was about beer bars only one of which I can think is that size.

Public liability insurance is just that…. INSURANCE

Nothing to do with City hall etc??; other than a licence compliance.

This is just as the anti music licence dummy’s said would never happen for beer bars (PLI will eventually be required for beer bars even if only 3sqm) …I for one would be very happy to know I was covered as a customer instead of paying hospital bills due to some business operator cutting corners

Get your own insurance.

Look at Thai car insurance at the mandatory level (which thy don't even buy). It would not cover you for a scratch on your leg. Same same for some micky mouse bar policy.
