I can see it. A guy managed to sneak up on stage, unseen, on the right wing, and then crosses the stage very quickly, behind Liam, and pushes Noel (stage left) from behind, very hard.

aftermath, 4 or five bouncers grab the guy and pin him down, then take him out back. Two or three bouncers needed to restrain Liam who was going after the guy.

one version of the story:

Chaos ensued on stage at Toronto’s V Festival last night when Oasis singer Noel Gallagher was attacked, and left with a suspected fractured rib and ligament damage, in front of an audience of 40,000.

A man appeared as the band played Morning Glory and ran at the Gallagher, 41, from behind, sending the singer, who had a guitar strapped on, flying into the monitor speakers.

As security sprinted on stage at Toronto Island Park, the man tried to run but fell into a microphone stand as the two guards grabbed at his arms.

He was dragged off stage, but before the security guards could get him into the wings, Gallagher’s brother, Liam, 35, ran at him and threw a punch, which failed to connect.

A security guard tried to restrain the singer by grabbing his shoulders, but he shrugged him off and followed his brother’s attacker off into the wings.

Noel was helped off stage and the rest of the band abandoned their instruments and followed the brothers.

The crowd were left facing an empty stage and yelling for the band to come back.

Eventually Oasis returned to finish their set but afterwards Noel was taken to hospital with suspected fractured rib and ligament damage.

The spokesperson said the unidentified attacker had been detained by police who were investigating the incident.

It doesn't matter if you like them or not, to push someone from the back off the stage is not the most courageous thing to do, I would put it right up there with robbing grandmothers on the street. On another note you are ruining the night for everyone involved, the band and all the people who payed their money to see the band and have a good night. If you hate them so much, why did you buy a ticket to go see them....the security should be fired, how did this fool get backstage? These lads are just doing their job, playing music....

Quite right, even tho I've never heard their stuff. I can't get the pic either, but the story reminds me of the black-dressed runner on stage in Central Park, NY, who seemed to be heading for Paul Simon.

The man was captured in a bear hug by a big 'security bear', swung of his feet and disappeared. Garfunkle looked horrified, Simon looked 'rather surprised', but carried on playing with barely a hesitation. REAL pros!

Out of interest, cCan anyone tell me what happened to that run-on moron?
