Report Autopsy Reveals Thai Party Entertainer Died of Overdose, Not Drowning
Photo via Thai News Online Mark and fellow entertainer Mew were employed by Rin, a Thai man, to perform at a drug-fuelled party on a floating accommodation from February 26 to 28. Mew alleges that Rin coerced Mark into consuming ketamine and crystal meth, drugs he had never used before. According to Mew, in the early hours of February 28, Rin notified him that Mark was missing. The pair then destroyed drug evidence before alerting accommodation staff and Si Sawat Police Station officers of Mark's disappearance. Subsequent drug tests revealed Rin and Mew both tested positive for drugs. Allegations surfaced that Rin bribed the police with 60,000 baht to avoid charges, while Mew elected to face the legal consequences without offering a bribe. Despite Mark's body being found in the river, his family suspected a drug overdose due to needle marks and clenched fists, suggesting severe drug use. The family believed Rin might have disposed of Mark’s body to evade blame. In a recent interview, Mew suggested Rin might have pushed Mark's body into the river, but acknowledged the possibility of Mark jumping in under the drug's influence. Despite repeated inquiries, the family received no responses from police regarding the autopsy results until public pressure elicited their release. The autopsy findings, confirmed on May 14, showed no water in Mark's lungs, establishing that he died before entering the river. This revelation has intensified suspicions that Rin disposed of Mark's body. Rin has yet to address the media, and the police have not summoned him for questioning. Simultaneously, the Royal Thai Police announced an investigation into the alleged 60,000 baht bribe allegedly paid to officers at Si Sawat Police Station. Those involved will face appropriate legal actions. Adapted by ASEAN Now from The Thaiger 2025-05-15 -

Best way to transfer money to Thailand please?
Wise is not restricted to US bank accounts. You can open a Wise account in many currencies, and many countries. And it is 95% within seconds. Normal swift bank accounts take a couple days. Forget about Western Union, IMHO they are crooks. Huge fees for both parties, and also terrible exchange rates, much time wasted at WU counters to collect funds, etc. etc. -

It’s a three pin system that allows 2 pin connection for appliances that are double insulated. chargers bought for 20 baht at markets however may not have the best level of QA before despatch. in the uk ,there was a period where chargers were exploding regularly(not the same once, obvs), albeit because efags were being charged with Nokia chargers -

Report Architectural Firm Denies Design Changes in Collapsed SAO HQ
File photo for reference only Amidst a parliamentary investigation, architectural firm Forum Architect Co Ltd, alongside Meinhardt (Thailand), has refuted claims of having made design changes to the State Audit Office (SAO) headquarters, which collapsed following the March 28 earthquake. The House Committee on Corruption Prevention and Suppression, led by Pheu Thai MP Chalad Khamchuang, is probing potential construction irregularities tied to structural failures and alleged modifications, particularly in the elevator shaft design. The tragic collapse of the 30-storey building in Chatuchak, Bangkok, which was the city's sole high-rise to fall during the quake, resulted in 89 confirmed deaths and seven missing among the 109 workers present. Theerachai Phanthumas, deputy chairman of the committee, scrutinised Forum Architect's managing director, Suchat Chutipabhakorn. Suchat affirmed that no official design revisions were ever submitted post approval. He clarified that while their consultation involved decorating the lift shaft with marble, no formal alterations to the design were executed. Meinhardt (Thailand)'s director, Theera Wattanasup, acknowledged suggesting a reduction in wall thickness to better accommodate interior finishes, paired with necessary structural reinforcements. However, he maintained that these suggestions did not have the authority to be enacted, as only the SAO could approve such changes. Engineer Pimol Charoenying, who initially certified the design, corroborated that he had only seen the original plans, not any revised versions. Further concerns raised by the committee involve potential use of inferior materials like steel and concrete, casting doubt on cost-cutting measures possibly amounting to 300 million baht. Ensuring proper technical oversight and adherence to payment procedures is now imperative. The committee intends to summon the former SAO head who oversaw the contract to provide clarity on oversight measures and any design modifications. This comprehensive investigation aims to ascertain accountability and prevent future catastrophes. Adapted by ASEAN Now from Bangkok Post 2025-05-15
