For Those Who Are Married, Work..without Kids

I am 28, working and living in Bangkok....and my questions is,

What do you do on the weekend???

I know it sounds sad, but I usually just stay home or go watch a movie at Emporium on weekends. My husband and I are together 24/7 (we work at the same place so we go to work together, we come home together....).

I am having a hard time finding things to do (separately from my husband). I thought about joining one of women's clubs, but they all meet and have activities on weekdays. I am not a cook, baker, or a good sports player, oh, also suck at knitting too, however I am willing to learn and try.

Is there any cooking class, or just about anything to do as a group on weekends??? Seriously, just one afternoon tea meet up will do although I am looking for something that will last a while.

PLEASE HELP ME :o

Just an idea...If you are earning good money, why not do something a bit exciting once a month or so, such as booking a weekend getaway to one of the islands. You could try something like scuba, snorkeling, spa stuff, or just relaxing/lounging about (if you are tired from a week of work). Or head north on a Friday night and go on a tour on the Saturday or a days trekking. I think good too for a relationship, especially if you work together, so you see each other doing something exciting and different. Should help to keep that *spark* in your relationship. (Air prices can be good value, although not good for your environmental "footprints". )

You could also do things like learn some new skills. Fun stuff, such as a cookery course (which you already mentioned), batik, Jewelery design.

Cant hook you up with places to go though, sorry, as im in Chiang Mai. Just throwing some ideas out there. Im sure the Bkk ladies, or gents, can help you out.

Hope you have some fun things to do soon! :o

What about learning Thai (if you haven't already learnt it, that is)?

I have made so many friends that way and I don't have to socialise with expats-only groups all the time. It's a great cultural experience too! :D

Thank you everyone!!!

I will check out some sites mentioned.

Last weekend, I exprored J-avenue and the villa market...and I really loved the villa. Why am I craving something that I never liked when I was in the states......haha

I think that villa market is the best place for grocery shopping now, and I even bought a little icebox! :o

Thank you for your tips!

There is a group called WOMBLES (Working Mums of Bangkok Lets Eat Supper) associated with BAMBI. Although the name implies that you have to have kids, they actually welcome anyone and are a great bunch of professional women working in a fascinating range of industries. They get together monthly to eat dinner.

The Alliance Francaise www.alliance-francaise.or.th in Sathorn Rd run a number of adult education classes in English on weekends, including photography, painting in various mediums and French language.

Neilson Hayes Library is great not only for borrowing books but also for their exhibits and functions (eg: they just had a session on travel writing).

For cooking classes, places like Baipai Thai are very reasonably priced and for more 'gourmet' Thai you could try Blue Elephant restaurant. Benjarong at the Dusit Thani used to have 3-hour Saturday morning classes and then you eat what you cook, yummy!
