Korean man falls to death from Pattaya hotel

A 41-year-old Korean businessman fell to death from his room on the fourth floor of a hotel in this seaside town early Monday morning.

His Thai girlfriend, Amornrat Watabe, 25, claimed that the man jumped down from the room where she and Kim Chang Hyon, stayed.

But police found the trace of fighting and blood in the room.

Amornrat told police that she and the Korean man had been dating for over two months.

The man had business in Thailand had been staying in Bnagkok's Bungkum district for over 20 years.

She said she and her boyfriend went to Pattaya to cut a land purchase deal.

Then, the man went to a bar with three Korean friends. After he returned to the hotel room, he asked Amornrat to pick up his friends at the bar but she refused, she said.

Kim then became angry and hit her head with bottle and assaulted her so she packed up and was about to return home.

She said Kim apologised her and the two went back to rest in the room but she woke up an hour later, seeing her boyfriend wetting her bags.

He then rushed out of room to the balcony and jumped down, she said.

"Dating" for two months, staying in Bangkok, comes down to Pattaya to conclude a land deal, deal goes well so goes out on the razz with his mates, returns to hotel has a bust up with gf, suffers remorse and makes up, an hour later gets up p1sses over her bags and jumps out the window.

Bizarre even by Pattaya standards.

i`m not convinced about that story........lotta shit goes down in pattaya.....have a feeling the girls involved!?!?

Junki, I for one would be most interested if you could report back on how this news item was being covered in the Korean news media.

The report from the Nation's web site adds a little more:

The man had business in Thailand had been staying in Bnagkok's Bungkum district for over 20 years.
[sic]

-------edit-------

I now see that line in the lead post - including spelling error from The Nation.

Taken from this web site.

The International Secretariat has just been informed by reliable sources of the arrest of 15 labour and NGO activists, on July 25, 1998, in the Pusan and Ulsan areas. According to the information received, they were charged with violating the national security law on the day of their arrest. Among the 15 activists detained, the following people have been identified: Mr. Kim Chang-Hyon (36-years old),
